Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Example embodiments of the present disclosure include a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for providing a recommendation based on a level of buying intent of an individual. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include monitoring an amount of time an individual wears a particular item while in a fitting room of a retail store, and determining an interest level of the individual in purchasing the item based on the amount of time the individual wears the item. The method may further include generating and providing a recommendation for an additional based on the determined level of intent.

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: an interactive mirror display unit configured to operate in two modes of operation, in a first mode of operation, the interactive mirror display unit is configured to function as a reflective mirror surface, in a second mode of operation, the interactive mirror display unit is configured to function as a touch display surface operable to present content and receive user input while maintaining reflective qualities; and a controller communicatively coupled to the interactive mirror display unit, the controller comprising one or more processors configured to perform operations comprising: causing the interactive mirror display unit to transition from the first mode of operation in which the interactive mirror display unit functions as the reflective mirror surface to the second mode of operation in which the interactive mirror display unit functions as the touch display surface; determining an amount of time an item is worn by an individual; accessing a look-up table that includes a plurality of predefined interest levels and a time range corresponding to each predefined interest level of the plurality of predefined interest levels; determining, using the look-up table, an interest level of the individual with respect to the item based on the amount of time the individual wears the item; in response to determining the interest level is above a predefined interest level, generating a recommendation for an additional item; and causing the interactive mirror display unit to present the recommendation for the additional item to the individual. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to transmit a message to a client device of the individual, the message including the recommendation for the additional item. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to perform operations comprising generating an offer that includes a discount on a price of the item. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein an amount of the discount is based on the determined interest level of the individual. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to perform operations comprising: identifying a user account of the individual; and accessing user data maintained as part of the user account, the user data including contact information. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to determine the individual is wearing the item based on a proximity of the individual with respect to the item. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to determine the proximity of the individual with respect to the item using a signal produced by a radio frequency identifier (RFID) tag affixed to the item. 8. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a camera configured to record an image feed comprising one or more images, wherein the one or more processors are further configured to determine the individual is wearing the item based on an analysis of the one or more images. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to perform operations comprising: detecting the individual leaving a retail store in which the interactive mirror display unit is located; and in response to detecting the individual leaving the retail store, transmitting the recommendation to a mobile device of the individual. 10. A method performed by one or more processors of an interactive mirror display unit, the method comprising: determining, by the one or more processors, an amount of time an item is worn by an individual; accessing, by the one or more processors, a look-up table that includes a plurality of predefined interest levels and a time range corresponding to each predefined interest level of the plurality of predefined interest levels; determining, by the one or more processors using the look-up table, an interest level of the individual with respect to the item based on the amount of time the individual wears the item; in response to determining the interest level is above a predefined interest level, generating, by the one or more processors, a recommendation for an additional item; and causing, by the one or more processors, the interactive mirror display unit to transition from a first mode of operation in which the interactive mirror display unit functions as a reflective mirror surface to a second mode of operation in which the interactive mirror display unit functions as a touch display surface; and causing, by the one or more processors, the interactive mirror display unit to present the recommendation for the additional item to the individual while in the second mode of operation. 11. The method of claim 10 , further comprising: receiving, via the interactive mirror display unit, a request to purchase the additional item, the request being generated in response to selection of a selectable element presented on the touch display surface; and facilitating the purchase of the additional item. 12. The method of claim 10 , further comprising: detecting the individual leaving a retail store in which the interactive mirror display unit is located; and in response to detecting the individual leaving the retail store, transmitting a message to a mobile device of the individual, the message including one or more selectable elements operable, via user selection, to request purchase of at least one of the item or the additional item. 13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising: receiving, from the mobile device of the individual, a request to purchase the item or the additional item, the request being generated in response to selection of one of the one or more selectable elements included in the message; and facilitating the purchase of the item or the additional item from the retail store. 14. The method of claim 10 , wherein the method further comprises determining the individual is wearing the item based on determining that the individual is within a predefined distance of the item. 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the determining that the individual is within the predefined distance is based on a signal produced by a radio frequency identifier (RF ID) tag affixed to the item. 16. The method of claim 10 , further comprising generating an offer that includes a discount on a price of the item, wherein an amount of the discount is based on the determined interest level of the individual. 17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the amount of the discount is inversely proportional to the amount of time the item is worn by the individual. 18. The method of claim 10 , further comprising transmitting a message to a creator of the item, the message specifying the interest level of the individual. 19. The method of claim 10 , further comprising storing a record of the interest level of the individual in user data maintained as part of a user account of the individual. 20. A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium embodying instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising: determining an amount of time an item is worn by an individual; accessing a look-up table that includes a plurality of predefined interest levels and a time range corresponding to each predefined interest level of the plurality of predefined interest levels; determining, using the look-up table, an interest level of the individual with respect to the item based on the
