The present invention relates to a composition for the use in improving vascular health, including treating and preventing vascular diseases and diseases related thereto, using a botanical extract of oil palm vegetation liquor from the palm oil milling process.

The invention claimed is: 1. A composition for treating ventricular tachycardia (VT) comprising an effective amount of a freeze dried concentrate of an oil palm phenolics (OPP) extract, wherein the OPP extract is a water soluble extract obtained from a vegetation liquor of a palm oil milling process, wherein said freeze dried concentrate of the OPP extract has a strength of 30000 ppm GAE, and wherein said composition is in a form selected from the group consisting of a capsule, a sachet, a lozenge, and a tablet. 2. A method for maintaining or promoting cardiovascular health of a subject, said method comprising regularly administering to said subject an effective amount of the composition according to claim 1 . 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein said subject is a healthy individual or animal. 4. A method for improving cardiovascular health of a subject, said method comprising regularly administering to said subject an effective amount of the composition according to claim 1 . 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein said subject is a healthy individual or animal. 6. A method for preventing the development of atherosclerotic lesions in a subject at risk therefor, said method comprising regularly administering to said subject an effective amount of the composition according to claim 1 . 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein said subject is a healthy individual or animal. 8. A method for protecting against cardiovascular disease, said method comprising regularly administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of the composition according to claim 1 .
