Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system that creates an environment (e.g., ecosystem) for using, transmitting, and storing data from a CEW and other equipment. The information from a CEW includes a log maintained by the CEW. The log may include information related to the operation, maintenance, software, and deployment units used by the CEW. The information may be used alone or in combination with other information received and stored by an evidence management system for managing inventory, generating use-of-force reports, incident reports, and/or providing information related to equipment, such as a CEW, to the supplier of the equipment. Sources of information provided to an evidence management system includes equipment suppliers, CEWs, other cooperating equipment, records management systems of an agency, a dispatch system of an agency, and third parties. A CEW or other equipment may also receive information for storing in the log.

What is claimed is: 1 . An electronic device for providing a notice to an agency regarding a provided conducted electrical weapon (“CEW”), the CEW for delivering a current through a target to impede locomotion of the target, the electronic device comprising: a communications circuit; and a processing circuit; wherein: the processing circuit receives an electronic log from the CEW via the communications circuit, the log includes information regarding one or more operations performed by the CEW including delivery of the current through the target to impede locomotion of the target and a status of the CEW; the processing circuit analyzes at least a portion of the information of the log to determine a result; responsive to the analysis, the processing circuit wirelessly transmits via the communications circuit the notice to the agency; the notice includes the result. 2 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein the result comprises an amount of charge on a battery of the CEW. 3 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein the result comprises indicia regarding the one or more operations performed by the CEW. 4 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein the result comprises indicia regarding providing the current through the target. 5 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein the result comprises indicia regarding an amount of current provided through the target. 6 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein analysis includes reading a portion of the information of the log. 7 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein analysis includes comparing a value of a portion of the information of the log to a threshold. 8 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein analysis includes performing a computation using a value of a portion of the information of the log. 9 . The electronic device of claim 1 wherein transmission includes transmitting the message to a predetermined person at the agency. 10 . The electronic device of claim 1 further comprising the processing circuit presents on a display of the electronic device the message to inform a user of the CEW. 11 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions that, when executed by a processing circuit of an electronic device, establish a machine performing a computer-implemented method for providing a notice to an agency regarding a conducted electrical weapon (“CEW”), the CEW for delivering a current through a target to impede locomotion of the target, the method comprising: receiving an electronic log from the CEW, the log includes information regarding one or more operations performed by the CEW including delivery of the current through the target to impede locomotion of the target and a status of the CEW; analyzing at least a portion of the information of the log to determine a result; responsive to analyzing, wirelessly transmitting the notice to the agency, the notice includes the result. 12 . The method of claim 11 wherein the result comprises an amount of charge on a battery of the CEW. 13 . The method of claim 11 wherein the result comprises indicia regarding the one or more operations performed by the CEW. 14 . The method of claim 11 wherein the result comprises indicia regarding providing the current through the target. 15 . The method of claim 11 wherein the result comprises indicia regarding an amount of current provided through the target. 16 . The method of claim 11 wherein analyzing comprises reading a portion of the information of the log. 17 . The method of claim 11 wherein analyzing comprises comparing a value of a portion of the information of the log to a threshold. 18 . The method of claim 11 wherein analyzing comprises performing a computation using a value of a portion of the information of the log. 19 . The method of claim 11 wherein transmitting comprises transmitting the message to a predetermined person at the agency. 20 . The method of claim 11 further comprising presenting on a display of the electronic device the message to inform a user of the CEW.
