Official abstract text for this publication.
A system that creates an environment (e.g., ecosystem) for using, transmitting, and storing data from a CEW and other equipment. The information from a CEW includes a log maintained by the CEW. The log may include information related to the operation, maintenance, software, and deployment units used by the CEW. The information may be used alone or in combination with other information received and stored by an evidence management system for managing inventory, generating use-of-force reports, incident reports, and/or providing information related to equipment, such as a CEW, to the supplier of the equipment. Sources of information provided to an evidence management system includes equipment suppliers, CEWs, other cooperating equipment, records management systems of an agency, a dispatch system of an agency, and third parties. A CEW or other equipment may also receive information for storing in the log.

What is claimed is: 1 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions that, when executed by a processing circuit of an electronic device, establish a machine performing a computer-implemented method for supplementing information in a log, the log from a conducted electrical weapon (“CEW”), the CEW for providing a current through a target to impede locomotion of the target, the method comprising: receiving an electronic log from the CEW, the log includes a first information regarding one or more operations performed by a CEW including providing the current through the target to impede locomotion of the target and a status of the CEW; receiving a second information for supplementing the first information; combining at least a portion of the second information with the first information to form an augmented log; transmitting the augmented log to a server via a network. 2 . The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the second information comprises receiving the second information from a component of the electronic device. 3 . The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the second information comprises receiving the second information via a wireless transmission. 4 . The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the second information comprises receiving the second information form a user of the electronic device via a user interface. 5 . The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the second information comprises reading the second information from a memory of the electronic device. 6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the portion of the second information is different from the first information. 7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the second information comprises a log from a second CEW. 8 . The method of claim 1 wherein the portion of the second information comprises at least one of location information, video information, and audio information. 9 . The method of claim 1 wherein combining comprises storing the first information and the at least a portion of the second information in a data structure in a memory. 10 . The method of claim 1 wherein combining comprises formatting the first information and the at least a portion of the second information for transmission in accordance with a communication protocol. 11 . An electronic device for supplementing information in a log, the log from a provided conducted electrical weapon (“CEW”), the CEW for providing a current through a target to impede locomotion of the target, the electronic device comprising: a user interface; a communications circuit; and a processing circuit; wherein: the processing circuit receives the log from the CEW via the communications circuit, the log contains a first information regarding one or more operations performed by the CEW including providing the current through the target to impede locomotion of the target and a status of the CEW; the processing circuit receives a second information from at least one of the user interface, the communications circuit, and a result of an operation performed by the processing circuit; the processing circuit combines at least a portion of the second information with the first information to form an augmented log; the communications circuit transmits the augmented log to a server via a network. 12 . The electronic device of claim 11 wherein the second information comprises information provided by a user via the user interface. 13 . The electronic device of claim 11 wherein the second information comprises a log received from a second CEW via the communications circuit. 14 . The electronic device of claim 11 wherein the second information comprises information received from a camera via the communications circuit. 15 . The electronic device of claim 11 wherein the second information comprises information provided by an agency via the communications circuit. 16 . The electronic device of claim 11 wherein the result of the operation of the processing circuit is a geographic location. 17 . The electronic device of claim 11 wherein of the second information is different from the first information. 18 . The electronic device of claim 11 wherein the portion of the second information comprises at least one of a geographic location, video information, audio information.
