What is claimed is: 1 . A composition, comprising activated vaterite and water repellant. 2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the activated vaterite is at least 10% w/w in the composition. 3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the water repellant is an organic material or silicon based material. 4 . The composition of claim 3 , wherein the organic material is a long chain fatty acid or a salt or ester of the long chain fatty acid. 5 . The composition of claim 4 , wherein the organic material is stearate, oleate, palmitate, or combinations thereof. 6 . The composition of claim 3 , wherein the silicon based material is —Si—O—S— linkage comprising organic group(s). 7 . The composition of claim 3 , wherein the silicon based material is selected from the group consisting of silane, siloxane, resin, and combinations thereof. 8 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the water repellant is between 0.01-2 wt %. 9 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition after combination with water, setting and hardening has a flexural strength between 4-25 MPa. 10 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition has water absorption of less than 20 wt %. 11 . A formed building material, comprising aragonite and water repellant. 12 . The formed building material of claim 11 , wherein the aragonite is between 10-95% w/w in the formed building material. 13 . The formed building material of claim 11 , wherein the water repellant is an organic material or silicon based material. 14 . The formed building material of claim 11 , wherein the water repellant is between 0.01-2 wt % in the formed building material. 15 . The formed building material of claim 11 , wherein the water repellant is bonded with the calcium and/or carbonate of the aragonite and/or encapsulated in the crystal lattice of the aragonite and/or coated on the aragonite. 16 . A method for making a composition, comprising: (a) contacting CO 2 with water comprising alkaline earth-metal ions and proton removing agent under one or more conditions to make a composition comprising activated vaterite; and (b) mixing the composition with a water repellant. 17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the one or more conditions are selected from the group consisting of mixing, stirring, temperature, pH, precipitation, residence time of the precipitate, dewatering of precipitate, washing precipitate with water, ion ratio, concentration of additives, drying, milling, grinding, storing, aging, curing, and combinations thereof. 18 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising combining the composition with water and facilitating vaterite transformation to aragonite when the compostion sets and hardens to form cement. 19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the water repellant is an organic material or silicon based material. 20 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the water repellant is bonded with the calcium and/or carbonate of the aragonite and/or encapsulated in the crystal lattice of the aragonite and/or coated on the aragonite. 21 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the water comprising the proton removing agent and the alkaline earth metal ions is from carbide lime. 22 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising forming a formed building material from the cement.
