Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A filtering device for removing particles from a fluid of a patient is provided. The filtering device being implantable in the patient's body and comprising a cassette comprising a revolving member, said revolving member having at least two segments each holding a respective filter. The device further comprises a tube forming a fluid passageway through one of the filters in said cassette, wherein the cassette is adapted to, upon revolution of the revolving cylinder, change the filter positioned in the fluid passageway from a first one of said filters to a second one of said filters, thereby allowing particles present on the first filter to be moved away from the fluid passageway, while at the same time changing the filter positioned in the fluid passageway.

The invention claimed is: 1. A filtering device for removing particles from a fluid of a patient, the filtering device being implantable in the patient's body and comprising: a cassette comprising a revolving member, said revolving member having at least two segments each holding a respective filter; a tube ( 8 ) forming a fluid passageway ( 14 ) through one of the filters in said cassette, wherein the cassette is adapted to, upon revolution of the revolving cylinder, change the filter positioned in the fluid passageway from a first one of said filters to a second one of said filters, thereby allowing particles present on the first filter to be moved away from the fluid passageway, while at the same time changing the filter positioned in the fluid passageway. 2. The filtering device according to claim 1 , wherein the filter and/or cassette is powered by a motor. 3. The filtering device according to claim 1 , further comprising a magazine adapted to hold a number of revolving members. 4. The filtering device according to claim 1 , further comprising a cleaning device for cleaning the filter. 5. The filtering device according to claim 4 , wherein the cleaning device is adapted to move particles to at least one of; a location free within the body of the patient taking into account the fibrotic capsula covering the cleaning device when implanted to perform said move, and a collecting volume adapted to collect cleaned matter that has been cleaned from the filter. 6. The filtering device according to claim 4 , wherein the cleaning device is adapted to slice, push or scratch away or suck away any particles from the filter. 7. The filtering device according to claim 1 , comprising at least one of a switch preferably a subcutaneous switch, a wireless remote control, and a hydraulic device having a hydraulic reservoir adapted to be regulated by manually pressing the hydraulic reservoir, wherein the filtering device is adapted to thereby manually and non-invasively control any function of the cleaning device. 8. The filtering device according to claim 1 , comprising at least one of; an internal energy source, a wireless energy receiver, and a chargeable internal energy source to be charged with wireless energy, to non-invasively be energized by said wireless energy receiver. 9. The filtering device according to claim 1 , further comprising a sensor for sensing a parameter, wherein the sensor is a functional parameter sensor for sensing a functional parameter of the filtering apparatus or a physical parameter sensor for sensing a physical parameter of the patient. 10. The filtering device according to claim 1 , comprising a feedback device for sending information from inside the patient's body to the outside thereof to give feedback information related to at least a sensed parameter. 11. The filtering device according to claim 9 , comprising an internal control unit adapted to act in response to the functional parameter or a physical parameter sensed by the sensor, wherein the internal control unit adapted to control the cleaning device, comprises an operation device adapted to act in response to parameters sensed by the sensor. 12. The filtering device according to claim 11 , wherein the physical parameter sensor is a pressure sensor. 13. The filtering device according to claim 1 , comprising an operation device for operating the filtering device, wherein the operation device comprises a motor or a pump. 14. The filtering device according to claim 1 , wherein the filtering device is adapted to be placed in the patient's abdomen, thorax, subcutaneously, muscle fascia or retroperitoneal region or cephalic or neck region of the patient. 15. An apparatus for drainage of a body fluid in a human or mammal patient, comprising: a drainage device, an energy source adapted to supply energy to said drainage device, and at least one connecting tube connected to said drainage device, the drainage device and the tube forming a drainage arrangement, a filtering device according to claim 1 provided in a fluid passage way from a treatment area from which fluid is drained to a delivery area where the drained fluid is delivered, and wherein the entire apparatus for drainage is adapted to be implanted into the body of the human or mammal patient and the delivery area is inside the body of the human or mammal patient. 16. The apparatus for drainage according to claim 15 , wherein said delivery area is one of the urine bladder and the stomach.
