Official abstract text for this publication.
Embodiments described herein generally relate to methods and systems for configuring settings of a cell expansion system including a bioreactor. Through a user interface, a user may configure display settings, system settings, and settings associated with protocols for loading, growing and/or harvesting cells. In configuring settings for protocols and associated processes, a diagram view or window of the cell expansion system is displayed in embodiments. The diagram view displays the process settings as graphical user interface elements. Settings available for configuration are enabled for selection in the diagram view. The diagram view allows the user to visualize the settings available for task configuration and to configure enabled settings. Configured settings are stored and capable of retrieval for subsequent execution or modification of the applicable protocol.

What is claimed is: 1. A cell expansion system, the system comprising: a bioreactor; a processor; a display device, in communication with the processor, operable to display a user interface; and a memory, in communication with and readable by the processor, and containing a series of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: receive, in the user interface, an indication to configure a process; and in response to receiving the indication, provide a diagram view of the cell expansion system, wherein providing the diagram view comprises: depicting a first space of the bioreactor; and depicting a first direction of a first fluid flow in the first space with a first visual indicia. 2. The cell expansion system of claim 1 , wherein the bioreactor comprises a hollow fiber membrane. 3. The cell expansion system of claim 1 , wherein the cell expansion system is closed. 4. The cell expansion system of claim 1 , wherein the first space comprises an intracapillary space of the bioreactor. 5. The cell expansion system of claim 1 , further comprising: depicting a second space of the bioreactor; and depicting a second direction of a second fluid flow in the second space with a second visual indicia. 6. The cell expansion system of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving a touch event on a portion of the user interface; determining a location of the touch event on the display device; and mapping the location of the touch event to a first graphical user interface (GUI) element displayed in the user interface. 7. The cell expansion system of claim 6 , further comprising: determining the first GUI element is associated with the process. 8. The cell expansion system of claim 7 , further comprising: determining the first GUI element is associated with configuring the process. 9. The cell expansion system of claim 8 , wherein configuring the process comprises: determining a setting of the process is configurable. 10. The cell expansion system of claim 9 , further comprising: determining if the first setting is associated with a menu of options; and in response to determining the first setting is associated with the menu of options, providing the menu of options in the diagram view. 11. The cell expansion system of claim 9 , further comprising: determining if the first setting is associated with a numeric value; in response to determining the first setting is associated with the numeric value, providing a data entry pad in the diagram view to receive a first value. 12. The cell expansion system of claim 11 , further comprising: receiving, at the data entry pad, the first value. 13. The cell expansion system of claim 12 , further comprising: receiving an indication to store the first value for the first setting; and storing the first value for the first setting. 14. The cell expansion system of claim 13 , further comprising: receiving an indication to execute the process; retrieving the first value for the first setting; and executing the process using the stored first value for the first setting. 15. The cell expansion system of claim 13 , further comprising: determining to calculate a second value for a second setting based on the first value for the first setting; calculating the second value; and storing the second value.
