We claim: 1. A golf club putter head, comprising: a main body having a front portion with a face for striking a golf ball, a rear portion and opposed heel and toe sides which extend rearwardly from the front portion and initially diverge outwardly from the front portion before converging toward one another as they join the rear portion, the front portion having a first lateral width that is less than a maximum lateral width between the opposed heel and toe sides; a heel side outboard extension extending heelwardly and rearwardly from the heel side; a toe side outboard extension extending toewardly and rearwardly from the toe side; the heel side outboard extension and toe side outboard extension each receiving a weight; and wherein the first lateral width is greater than a second lateral width of the rear portion; a central portion extending from the front portion to the rear portion, and the golf club putter head further including a heel gap located between the heel side and the central portion and a toe gap located between the toe side and the central portion; wherein the front portion includes a first portion comprising a first material and a second portion comprising a second material, wherein the first material and the second material are different materials. 2. The golf club putter head of claim 1 , wherein at least the central portion is made of aluminum. 3. The golf club putter head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club putter head is a two-piece construction and the central portion is made of a lower density material than the front portion. 4. The golf club putter head of claim 1 , wherein the front portion further comprises one or more holes that extend through the front portion, wherein one or more fasteners extend through the one or more holes and attach the front portion to the central portion. 5. The golf club putter head of claim 1 , wherein at least a substantial portion of both the heel and toe side outboard extensions are located rearward of a center of gravity (CG) of the putter head. 6. The golf club putter head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club putter head including a center of gravity (CG) having a CG X-axis, a CG Z-axis, and a CG Y-axis; wherein a moment of inertia of the club head about a CG z-axis is between about 2,000 g·cm 2 and about 14,000 g·cm 2 ; wherein a moment inertia of the club head about a CG x-axis is between about 1,000 g·cm 2 and about 10,000 g·cm 2 ; wherein a moment inertia of the club head about a CG y-axis is between about 1,000 g·cm 2 and about 10,000 g·cm 2 . 7. The golf club head of claim 1 , further comprising an alignment indicia including three lines located on the central portion. 8. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein an inner portion weight ratio is between about 0.15 and about 0.5. 9. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein a footprint ratio is between about 0.70 and about 0.90. 10. A golf club putter head, comprising: a main body having a front portion with a face for striking a golf ball, a rear portion and opposed heel and toe sides which extend rearwardly from the front portion and initially diverge outwardly from the front portion before converging toward one another as they join the rear portion, the front portion having a first lateral width that is less than a maximum lateral width between the opposed heel and toe sides; a central portion extending from the front portion to the rear portion; a heel side outboard extension extending heelwardly and rearwardly from the heel side; a toe side outboard extension extending toewardly and rearwardly from the toe side; the heel side outboard extension and toe side outboard extension each receiving a weight; and wherein the first lateral width is greater than a second lateral width of the rear portion; wherein an inner portion weight ratio is between about 0.15 and about 0.5; further including a central portion extending from the front portion to the rear portion, and the golf club putter head further including a heel gap located between the heel side and the central portion and a toe gap located between the toe side and the central portion; wherein the front portion includes a first portion comprising a first material and a second portion comprising a second material, wherein the first material and the second material are different materials. 11. The golf club head of claim 10 , wherein the inner portion weight ratio is no more than 0.25. 12. A golf club putter head, comprising: a main body having a front portion with a face for striking a golf ball, a rear portion and opposed heel and toe sides which extend rearwardly from the front portion and initially diverge outwardly from the front portion before converging toward one another as they join the rear portion, the front portion having a first lateral width that is less than a maximum lateral width between the opposed heel and toe sides; a heel side outboard extension extending heelwardly and rearwardly from the heel side; a toe side outboard extension extending toewardly and rearwardly from the toe side; the heel side outboard extension and toe side outboard extension each receiving a weight; and wherein the first lateral width is greater than a second lateral width of the rear portion; further including a central portion extending from the front portion to the rear portion, and the golf club putter head further including a heel gap located between the heel side and the central portion and a toe gap located between the toe side and the central portion; wherein the front portion includes a first portion comprising a first material and a second portion comprising a second material, wherein the first material and the second material are different materials; wherein at least a substantial portion of both the heel and toe side outboard extensions are located rearward of a center of gravity (CG) of the putter head; wherein the golf club putter head including a center of gravity (CG) having a CG X-axis, a CG Z-axis, and a CG Y-axis; wherein a moment of inertia of the club head about a CG z-axis is between about 2,000 g·cm 2 and about 14,000 g·cm 2 ; wherein a moment inertia of the club head about a CG x-axis is between about 1,000 g·cm 2 and about 10,000 g·cm 2 ; wherein a moment inertia of the club head about a CG y-axis is between about 1,000 g·cm 2 and about 10,000 g·cm 2 . 13.
