A golf club head is provided having a club body having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, and a heel portion. The club head also having a central portion connected with the front portion. A frame is connected with the central portion configured to provide a lightweight crown portion being located above an offset plane.

We claim: 1. A golf club putter head, comprising: a club body including a front portion, a rear portion disposed at a centrally located rear area of the club body, a toe portion, a heel portion, and a main body portion, the front portion including a face portion, wherein the main body portion extending from the front portion toward the rear portion, the main body portion having opposed sides extending from the front portion to the rear portion, the front portion having a first lateral width greater than a second lateral width of the rear portion; a heel side outboard portion connected to the main body portion, and extending rearward and heel-ward from the main body portion; a toe side outboard portion connected to the main body portion, and extending rearward and toe-ward from the main body portion; a heel side weight connected to the heel side outboard portion and a toe side weight connected to the toe side outboard portion; wherein the heel side outboard portion and the toe side outboard portion extend rearwardly at least as far as the rear portion, the heel side outboard portion and toe side outboard portion defining a third lateral width greater than both the first lateral width and second lateral width, wherein the heel side outboard portion and toe side outboard portion each have respective flange portions which are joined to the main body portion at a location between the front and rear portions; wherein the face portion having a face portion width measured from a toe-side of the face portion to a heel-side of the face portion; wherein the heel side outboard portion and the toe side outboard portion define at least a portion of an outer periphery of the golf club putter head, wherein a maximum outer periphery width between the heel side outboard portion and the toe side outboard portion is greater than the face portion width; and the golf club putter head including a center of gravity (CG) having a CG X-axis, a CG Z-axis, and a CG Y-axis; wherein a moment of inertia of the club head about a CG z-axis is between about 2,000 g·cm 2 and about 14,000 g·cm 2 ; wherein a moment inertia of the club head about a CG x-axis is between about 1,000 g·cm 2 and about 10,000 g·cm 2 ; wherein a moment inertia of the club head about a CG y-axis is between about 1,000 g·cm 2 and about 10,000 g·cm 2 . 2. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein a CGx location is between about −5.0 mm and about 5.0 mm, and a CGy location is between about 30 mm and about 50 mm, as measured from a ground center location. 3. The golf club head of claim 1 , further comprising an alignment indicia located on the main body portion. 4. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein an inner portion weight ratio is between about 0.15 and about 0.5. 5. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein a footprint ratio is between about 0.70 and about 0.90. 6. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein an effective footprint is between about 8,000 mm 2 and about 10,000 mm 2 . 7. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein an actual footprint is between about 6,000 mm 2 and about 8,500 mm 2 . 8. The golf club putter head of claim 1 , wherein the front portion further comprises one or more holes that extend through the front portion, wherein one or more fasteners extend through the one or more holes and attach the front portion to the main body portion. 9. The golf club putter head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club putter head is a two-piece construction and the main body portion is made of a lower density material than the front portion. 10. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the face portion includes a face insert. 11. The golf club head of claim 10 , wherein the face insert is a different material than the club body. 12. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the face insert includes grooves. 13. The golf club head of claim 12 , wherein a total weight of the golf club putter head is between about 300 g and about 400 g. 14. The golf club head of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the heel side weight and the toe side weight weigh about 4 grams or more. 15. The golf club head of claim 12 , wherein the heel side weight and the toe side weight both weigh about 4 grams or more. 16. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the main body portion of the club body being formed of a material having a lower density than the material used to form the toe side weight. 17. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the main body portion of the club body being formed from an aluminum alloy selected from the group consisting of 3000, 5000, 6000, and 7000 series aluminum alloys. 18. The golf club head of claim 17 , wherein the main body portion of the club body being formed from 6061 aluminum alloy. 19. The golf club head of claim 17 , further comprising an alignment indicia located on the main body portion. 20. The golf club head of claim 19 , further comprising a separately attached sole plate. 21. The golf club head of claim 20 , wherein the front portion further comprises one or more holes configured to receive one or more fasteners. 22. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the heel side outboard portion and the toe side outboard portion extend rearward of the CG of the golf club putter head. 23. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the CG of the golf club putter head is located rearward of a geometric center point of the golf club putter head. 24. The golf club putter head of claim 1 wherein the main body portion has a plurality of openings located between the opposed sides and between the front and rear portions. 25. The golf club putter head of claim 1 wherein the flange portions each have at least two different thicknesses, a first thickness proximate to one of the heel and toe side weights and a second thickness less than the first thickness proximate to where the flange portion joins the main body. 26. The golf club putter head of claim 1 wherein the flange portions and opposed sides of the main body portion define recesses on opposite sides of each flange portion at a junction where each flange portion joins the main body. 27. A golf club putter head, comprising: a club body including a front portion, a rear portion disposed at a centrally located rear area of the club body, a toe portion, a heel portion, and a main body portion, the front portion including a face portion, wherein the main body portion extending from the front portion toward the rear portion, the main body portion having opposed sides extending from the front portion to the rear portion; a heel side outboard portion connected to the main body portion, and extending rearward and heel-ward from the main body portion; a toe side outboard portion connected to the main body portion, and extending rearward and toe-ward from the main body portion; a heel side weight connected to the heel side outboard portion and a toe side weight connected to the toe side outboard portion, the toe side outboard portion and heel side outboard portion being located, respectively, more toeward and more heelward than the main body portion and both extending rearwardly at least as far as the rear portion, the heel side outboard portion and toe side outboard portion each having respective flange portions which are joined to the main body portion at a location between the front and rear portions; wherein the face portion includes a face insert having grooves and the face insert is
