The present invention relates to a peptide promoting angiogenesis and novel use thereof. More particularly, the invention relates to peptides promoting angiogenesis, and the use of the peptide for promoting angiogenesis and preventing or treating angiogenesis-related disease. The peptide of the present invention have an excellent effect on promoting angiogenesis. Accordingly, it is useful for preventing or treating angiogenesis-related disease and for preparing regeneration of skin flap, wound and burn healing, implantation of artificial skin and preparation of blood vessels for transplantation.

The invention claimed is: 1. An isolated peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 4, optionally wherein the C-terminal end of the peptide is amidated. 2. The isolated peptide of claim 1 , wherein the C-terminal end of the peptide is amidated. 3. A composition comprising the isolated peptide of claim 1 . 4. A composition comprising the isolated peptide of claim 2 . 5. The isolated peptide of claim 1 which consists of the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 4. 6. A composition comprising the isolated peptide of claim 5 . 7. A method for promoting angiogenesis by administering an effective amount of the isolated peptide of claim 1 to a subject in need thereof. 8. The method of claim 7 wherein the subject in need thereof has an angiogenesis-related disease selected from the group consisting of diabetic foot ulcer, ischemic cardiomyopathy, ischemic brain disease, acute posterior ischemia, chronic ulcer and ischemia.
