Official abstract text for this publication.
Disclosed is an oxidation process to produce a crude carboxylic acid product carboxylic acid product. The process comprises oxidizing a feed stream comprising at least one oxidizable compound to generate a crude carboxylic acid slurry comprising furan-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and compositions thereof. Also disclosed is a process to produce a dry purified carboxylic acid product by utilizing various purification methods on the crude carboxylic acid.

We claim: 1. A process to produce a purge mother liquor stream said process comprising: (a) contacting a mother liquor stream in a solvent recovery zone to form an impurity rich waste stream; wherein said mother liquor stream is produced in a 5-HMF oxidation process to generate a crude carboxylic acid slurry comprising furan-2,5-dicarboxylic; (b) routing a portion of said impurity rich waste stream to a solid-liquid separation zone to form a purge mother liquor stream. 2. A process according to claim 1 wherein said process further comprises routing a portion of said purge mother liquor stream to a mix zone to form an extraction feed stream. 3. A process according to claim 2 wherein said process further comprises routing said extraction feed stream and extraction zone to form a purge stream and an extract stream. 4. A process according to claim 3 wherein said solvent recovery zone comprise at least one evaporator. 5. A process according to claim 4 wherein impurity rich waste stream is a slurry with weight % solid greater than 10%. 6. A process according to claim 4 wherein impurity rich waste stream is a slurry with weight % solid greater than 30%.
