An apparatus for treating urinary incontinence with a support section adapted for providing urethral support; an anchoring section for resisting movement of the apparatus; an insert, a portion of which is adapted to be positioned where the support section attaches to the node; and, wherein the insert urges the support section radially outwards from a central axis of the apparatus.

What is claimed is: 1. An apparatus for treating urinary incontinence comprising: a. a support section comprising at least one arm that provides urethral support; b. an anchoring section comprising at least one arm; c. a node positioned between the support section and the anchoring section; d. a removable insert separate from the support section and comprising an o-ring; and e. a removal device attached directly to the o-ring and the apparatus; wherein a portion of said insert is selectively positioned proximal to said support section and wherein said insert selectively provides at least support to said support section of said apparatus, and wherein a force exerted on the removal device will remove the insert from the apparatus. 2. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said insert provides pressure to said support section, causing radial expansion of said support section. 3. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said support section is flexible. 4. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the at least one arm of the support section is open-ended. 5. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the insert is removably positioned in a groove of the support section when the insert is providing support. 6. The apparatus according to claim 1 further comprising a cover. 7. The apparatus according to claim 6 wherein said cover encapsulates said apparatus.
