What is claimed is: 1. A method of making a composite sandwich panel comprising the steps of (i) making a honeycomb core structure comprising cell walls, (ii) making at least one facesheet, and (iii) bonding at least one of the at least one facesheets to the core structure, wherein growth of a carbon nanotube structure is achieved on a surface of or inside the honeycomb core cell walls during step (i) or step (iii) or after the core structure has been bonded to the at least one facesheet. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the core structure comprises a nonwoven sheet, a woven fabric or a unidirectional fabric. 3. The method of claim 2 wherein the nonwoven sheet is a paper.
