A resistor includes a substantially cylindrical resistive element having a resistance of less than about 1 mΩ, a substantially cylindrical first termination electrically connected to the resistive element and a second termination electrically connected to the resistive element. The substantially cylindrical first termination is hollow to allow for accepting a connection such as from a battery cable. In addition there may be sense leads present on the resistor. A method of forming a substantially cylindrical resistor includes forming a hollow cylindrical resistor body by rolling a flat sheet comprising a resistive element and a first termination and a second termination joined on opposite ends of the resistive element.

What is claimed is: 1. A cylindrical resistor, comprising: a resistor comprising a cylindrical wire, the resistor having a first end and a second end; a first terminal comprising a first tube magnetically pulse welded to the first end of the resistor; and, a second terminal comprising a second tube magnetically pulse welded to the second end of the resistor. 2. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , wherein the resistor comprises a resistive element, and the resistive element is positioned at a distance between the first and second tubes to provide for a preselected initial resistance value. 3. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , further comprising a first sense lead connected to the first tube and a second sense lead connected to the second tube. 4. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , wherein the resistance of the resistor is configured for adjustment by removing a portion of the resistor. 5. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , wherein the resistance of the resistor is configured for adjustment by attaching material to the resistor. 6. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , wherein the first and second tubes comprise first and second open ends. 7. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , wherein the first tube has a first open end, and wherein a cable is attached to the first open end. 8. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , further comprising a flat terminal area in communication with the second terminal. 9. The cylindrical resistor of claim 8 , wherein the flat terminal area includes an aperture. 10. The cylindrical resistor of claim 1 , wherein the first or second terminal includes at least one slot to facilitate crimping to a cable. 11. A cylindrical resistor, comprising: a first termination comprising a first tube, the first tube having an open end configured for axial attachment to a cable; a second termination comprising a second tube; a segment of substantially cylindrical resistance wire magnetic pulse welded between the first tube and the second tube to thereby provide a substantially cylindrical resistor. 12. The cylindrical resistor of claim 11 , wherein the resistive element is positioned at a distance between the first and second tubes to provide for a preselected initial resistance value. 13. The cylindrical resistor of claim 11 further comprising a first sense lead connected to the first tube and a second sense lead connected to the second tube. 14. The cylindrical resistor of claim 11 , wherein the resistance of the resistor is configured for adjustment by removing a portion of the resistive element. 15. The cylindrical resistor of claim 11 , wherein the resistance of the resistor is configured for adjustment by attaching material to the resistive element. 16. The cylindrical resistor of claim 11 , wherein the first and second tubes comprise first and second open ends. 17. The cylindrical resistor of claim 11 , wherein the first tube has a first open end, and wherein a cable is attached to the first open end. 18. The cylindrical resistor of claim 11 , further comprising a flat terminal area in communication with the second termination. 19.
