A method is provided for producing a bonded joint between fiber-reinforced thermoplastic parts to be joined, in which fiber-containing plastic material is mixed into the joining zone while friction stir welding the parts to be joined in the form of a butt joint. A device for carrying out such a method for a joined component is also provided.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for producing a bonded joint between fiber-reinforced thermoplastic parts to be joined, the method comprising: supporting the parts to be joined on a rotating counter bracket that forms a plate-like head section of a stirring pin, wherein the parts to be joined are supported on their side that faces away from a friction shoulder; positioning the parts to be joined as a butt joint including a joining seam; welding the parts to be joined to one another; and supplying a fiber-containing plastic material into a joining zone, the joining zone defined as a zone where the parts are to be joined to one another, wherein the fiber-containing plastic material is heated above its melting temperature and rubbed into the joining zone by the friction shoulder as it is intermittently lifted relative to the joining zone and the plastic material can be superficially discontinuously supplied to the joining zone underneath the friction shoulder, and wherein, when the friction shoulder approaches the joining zone, the plastic material is rubbed into the joining zone and mixed with the fiber-reinforced thermoplastic parts. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the fiber-containing plastic material is supplied to the joining zone in a region of a stirring pin that rotates and penetrates between the parts to be joined. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the fiber-containing plastic material is supplied to the joining zone between the parts to be joined. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the joining zone is pre-heated to a temperature that approximates a melting temperature of at least one of the parts to be joined. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the welding step includes welding the parts to be joined to one another by friction stir welding.
