The invention claimed is: 1. A lubricating oil composition comprising: at least 5 mass % of longifolene based on a total amount of the composition; and greater than 0 mass % to 5 mass % of β-caryophyllene based on the total amount of the composition. 2. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , comprising at least 60 mass % of the longifolene based on the total amount of the composition. 3. A method of lubricating a continuously variable transmission, comprising applying the lubricating oil composition of claim 1 to the continuously variable transmission. 4. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , further comprising a bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane dimer. 5. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , wherein the longifolene has a purity of at least 80%. 6. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , comprising greater than 0 mass % to 1 mass % of the β-caryophyllene based on the total amount of the composition. 7. The method of claim 3 , wherein the continuously variable transmission is a traction drive type continuously variable transmission. 8. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , comprising at least 10 mass % of the longifolene based on the total amount of the composition. 9. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , comprising at least 70 mass % of the longifolene based on the total amount of the composition. 10. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , comprising at least 80 mass % of the longifolene based on the total amount of the composition. 11. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , comprising at least 90 mass % of the longifolene based on the total amount of the composition. 12. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , wherein the longifolene has a purity of at least 90%. 13. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , further comprising greater than 0 mass % to 3 mass % of the β-caryophyllene based on the total amount of the composition. 14. The lubricating oil composition of claim 4 , wherein the longifolene has a purity of at least 80%. 15. The lubricating oil composition of claim 4 , comprising greater than 0 mass % to 1 mass % of the β-caryophyllene based on the total amount of the composition. 16. The lubricating oil composition of claim 1 , wherein a viscosity of the composition at 100 degrees C. is at least 5 mm 2 /s. 17. A method of lubricating a continuously variable transmission, comprising applying the lubricating oil composition of claim 4 to the continuously variable transmission. 18. A method of lubricating a continuously variable transmission, comprising applying the lubricating oil composition of claim 6 to the continuously variable transmission. 19. A method of lubricating a continuously variable transmission, comprising applying the lubricating oil composition of claim 15 to the continuously variable transmission.
