An order fulfillment system is disclosed in which objects to be collected into orders are provided in output totes. The system includes a primary sortation system that includes a loop conveyance system that moves objects around a closed loop that includes a plurality of primary sortation exits, each of which leads to a location inside the closed loop, and a secondary sortation system that includes a plurality of secondary conveyances, each of which receives an object at one of the plurality of primary sortation exits, and conveys the object to one of a plurality of totes, the plurality of totes being within the closed loop of the primary sortation system.

1 .- 56 . (canceled) 57 . An object processing system comprising: a primary sortation system that receives a plurality of objects at a plurality of infeed stations and includes a loop conveyance system that moves the plurality of objects around a closed loop that includes a plurality of primary sortation exits at which any of the plurality of objects are selectively discharged from the primary sortation system; a secondary sortation system inside the closed loop of the primary sortation system, the secondary sortation system including a plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules, each shuttle module including a reciprocating conveyance for moving a received object of the plurality of objects at a selected primary sortation exit of the plurality of primary sortation exits from a first end of the respective shuttle module to any of a plurality of destination locations of the respective shuttle module, each of the plurality of destination locations including a destination container, each reciprocating conveyance traveling between two rows of destination locations, with each row of destination locations being further adjacent an output conveyor such that a number of output conveyors is larger than a number of shuttle modules, each output conveyor leading to a common discharge end of each shuttle module for discharging completed destination containers; and an empty container infeed conveyance system for providing empty containers to each of the rows of destination locations of each shuttle module on each of the plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules, the empty container infeed conveyance system providing the empty containers to an entry end of each shuttle module opposite the discharge end of each row of destination locations. 58 . The object processing system of claim 57 , wherein the plurality of infeed processing stations are proximate a common source infeed conveyor. 59 . The object processing system of claim 58 , wherein the primary sortation system is provided as one of a plurality of primary sortation systems that are proximate the common source infeed conveyor, each primary sortation system including a secondary sortation system. 60 . The object processing system of claim 59 , wherein the common source infeed conveyor is provided as one of a plurality of common source infeed conveyors, each of which is proximate the plurality of plurality of primary sortation systems. 61 . The object processing system of claim 57 , wherein the secondary sortation system includes two secondary sortation stations, each of which includes a set of the plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules such that discharge ends of plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules are located in a central region between the primary sortation exits. 62 . The object processing system of claim 57 , wherein said loop conveyance system includes a cross-belt conveyor. 63 . The object processing system of claim 57 , wherein said loop conveyance system includes a plurality of powered rollers. 64 . The object processing system of claim 57 , wherein the plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules of the secondary sortation system includes three vertical levels of shuttle modules. 65 . The object processing system of claim 57 , wherein each shuttle module includes a container removal system for removing a selected completed container from the respective shuttle module. 66 . The object processing system of claim 65 , wherein the object processing system further includes an output container conveyance system for providing the selected completed container to an output area outside of the closed loop. 67 . An object processing system comprising: a primary sortation system that receives a plurality of objects at a plurality of infeed stations and includes a loop conveyance system that moves the plurality of objects around a closed loop that includes a plurality of primary sortation exits at which any of the plurality of objects are selectively discharged from the primary sortation system; a secondary sortation system inside the closed loop of the primary sortation system, the secondary sortation system includes a plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules, each shuttle module including a reciprocating conveyance for moving a received object of the plurality of objects at a selected primary sortation exit of the plurality of primary sortation exits from a first end of the respective shuttle module to any of a plurality of destination locations of the respective shuttle module, each reciprocating conveyance traveling between two rows of destination locations, with each row of destination locations being further adjacent an output conveyor, wherein adjacent shuttle modules share the output conveyor therebetween, and wherein the output conveyors all lead to a common output area; and an empty bin in-feed conveyance system for providing empty bins to any of the rows of destination locations of each shuttle module, the empty bin in-feed conveyance system providing the empty bins to a first end of each row of destination locations. 68 . The object processing system of claim 67 , wherein the plurality of infeed processing stations are proximate a common source infeed conveyor. 69 . The object processing system of claim 68 , wherein the primary sortation system is provided as one of a plurality of primary sortation systems that are proximate the common source infeed conveyor, each primary sortation system including a secondary sortation system. 70 . The object processing system of claim 69 , wherein the common source infeed conveyor is provided as one of a plurality of common source infeed conveyors, each of which is proximate the plurality of plurality of primary sortation systems. 71 . The object processing system of claim 67 , wherein the secondary sortation system includes two secondary sortation stations, each of which includes a set of the plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules such that discharge ends of plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules are located in a central region between the primary sortation exits. 72 . The object processing system of claim 67 , wherein said loop conveyance system includes a cross-belt conveyor. 73 . The object processing system of claim 67 , wherein said loop conveyance system includes a plurality of powered rollers. 74 . The object processing system of claim 67 , wherein the plurality of vertically stacked shuttle modules of the secondary sortation system includes three vertical levels of shuttle modules. 75 .
