Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An apparatus is disclosed that provides a storage system designed to allow pickers to easily and efficiently pull products from all portions of the storage system from a single side of the storage system. The storage system includes a first storage rack that has a first plurality of columns and a first platform extending from one of the first plurality of columns. An outer edge of the first platform forms an end of the first storage rack. Positioned adjacent to the first storage rack is a second storage rack with a second plurality of columns and a second platform that extends from one of the second plurality of columns, where an outer edge of the second platform forms an end of the second storage rack. An aisle is formed by a predetermined distance between the outer edges of the first and second platforms.

1 - 7 . (canceled) 8 . A storage system, comprising: a first raised platform having an outer edge and positioned above a base surface; and a second raised platform having an outer edge and positioned above the base surface, wherein the outer edge of the first platform is positioned a predetermined distance from the outer edge of the second platform thereby creating an aisle. 9 . The storage system of claim 8 , further comprising: a first column extending vertically from the first raised platform; a second column extending vertically from the second raised platform; an upper base surface positioned above the first and second raised platforms, the upper base surface connected to the first and second columns; a third raised platform having an outer edge and positioned above the upper base surface; and a fourth raised platform having an outer edge and positioned above the upper base surface, wherein the outer edge of the third raised platform is positioned a predetermined distance from the outer edge of the fourth raised platform. 10 . The storage system of claim 8 , further comprising at least one vertical support bar positioned to provide support to one of the raised platforms. 11 . The storage system of claim 10 , further comprising: a first column extending from the first raised platform; and a first horizontal bar extending perpendicular from the first column and connecting to the first raised platform, wherein the vertical support bar is positioned underneath at least one of the first horizontal bar or first platform. 12 . The storage system of claim 11 , wherein the vertical support bar is positioned underneath the first horizontal bar and a certain distance from the first raised platform, wherein the distance from the first raised platform is at least two inches. 13 . The storage system of claim 11 , further comprising a second horizontal bar adjacent to the first horizontal bar, wherein the vertical support bar includes a bracket that connects to the first and second horizontal bars. 14 . The storage system of claim 8 , wherein the outer edges of the first and second platforms run substantially parallel to each other at a location where the outer edges of the first and second platform are adjacent each other, 15 . The storage system of claim 8 , wherein the first and second platforms are not in contact with the base surface. 16 . The storage system of claim 8 , wherein the platform positioned 1-15 inches above the base surface. 17 - 20 . (canceled)
