Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Embodiments of the systems described herein can implement one or more visitor stitching processes. Visitor stitching can include, among other things, one or more processes by which multiple visitors that may appear distinctly independent may be merged into a new single united visitor profile due to the leveraging of one or more unique persistent identifiers.

1 - 20 . (canceled) 21 . A system for customizing visitor profile data processing criteria associated with visits to a content site, the system comprising: a hardware processor configured to: electronically generate a visitor profile configuration user interface for presentation to a configuration user associated with a content site, the visitor profile configuration user interface comprising functionality for defining visitor templates for profiling visitors of the content site with custom attributes, the visitors including users of the content site other than the configuration user, the custom attributes having attribute values that denote traits of interactions by the visitors with the content site and that are assignable according to one or more of custom visitor configuration rules; receive a custom visitor template defined with the visitor profile configuration user interface, the custom visitor template defining a designated custom attribute and a designated custom visitor configuration rule, the designated custom attribute being assignable to individual visitors and having an attribute value that denotes a trait of the interactions by individual visitors with the content site and that is assigned according to the designated custom visitor configuration rule, the designated custom visitor configuration rule defining conditional logic to be applied to data indicative of the interactions by individual visitors with the content site; receive visitor data associated with the visitors of the content site, the visitor data obtained from a data collection tag embedded within code of one or more content pages of the content site, the data collection tag configured to identify the interactions of the visitors with the content site and report the interactions as at least part of the visitor data to the hardware processor; transform the visitor data by at least assigning one or more of the custom attributes including the designated custom attribute to at least some of the visitors such that the attribute value of the designated custom attribute assigned to individual visitors is assigned according to application of the designated custom visitor configuration rule to the visitor data; and electronically generate a visitor reporting user interface configured to provide a visitor segment report to the configuration user instead of to the visitors, the visitor segment report being filterable by a user selection associated with the designated custom attribute to (i) display first interaction data determined from the visitor data for the visitors assigned the attribute value matching a first value and (ii) hide from display second interaction data determined from the visitor data for the visitors assigned the attribute value matching a second value different from the first value. 22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the attribute value is a metric that reflects the interactions by individual visitors with the content site. 23 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the metric reflects the interactions by individual visitors with the content site over a plurality of visits by individual visitors to the content site, and the metric accumulates in value over the plurality of visits in response to the hardware processor transforming the visitor data. 24 . The system of claim 23 , wherein a number of the plurality of visits over which the metric accumulates in value is determined by the hardware processor from a configurable time period set by the configuration user. 25 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the metric reflects the interactions by individual visitors with the content site over a plurality of visits by individual visitors to the content site, and the metric increases and decreases in value over the plurality of visits in response to the hardware processor transforming the visitor data. 26 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the metric reflects the interactions by individual visitors with the content site over a single visit by individual visitors to the content site. 27 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the attribute value is a textual descriptor that reflects the interactions by individual visitors with the content site. 28 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the hardware processor is configured to assign the designated custom attribute to the at least some of the visitors by assigning (i) the first value as the attribute value for the visitors whose interactions with the content site included a first action and (ii) the second value as the attribute value for the visitors whose interactions with the content site included a second action different from the first action. 29 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the first value and the second value match a content of the one or more content pages. 30 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the hardware processor is configured to assign the designated custom attribute to the at least some of the visitors by assigning the designated custom attribute to a first group of the visitors and without assigning the designated custom attribute to a second group of the visitors different from the first group, the visitors included in the first group being determined from a user input by the configuration user. 31 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the hardware processor is configured to provide functionality for the configuration user to specify data sources associated with the content site from which to gather the visitor data using the data collection tag. 32 . The system of claim 21 , further comprising a display in communication with the hardware processor, the display being configured to present the visitor profile configuration user interface and the visitor reporting user interface to the configuration user. 33 . A method for customizing visitor profile data processing criteria associated with visits to a content site, the method comprising: electronically generating a visitor profile configuration user interface for presentation to a configuration user associated with a content site, the visitor profile configuration user interface comprising functionality for defining visitor templates for profiling visitors of the content site with custom attributes, the visitors including users of the content site other than the configuration user, the custom attributes having attribute values that denote traits of interactions by the visitors with the content site and that are assigned according to one or more of custom visitor configuration rules; receiving a custom visitor template defined with the visitor profile configuration user interface, the custom visitor template defining a designated custom attribute and a designated custom visitor configuration rule, the designated custom attribute being assignable to individual visitors and having an attribute value that denotes a trait of the interactions by individual visitors with the content site and that is assigned according to the designated custom visitor configuration rule, the designated custom visitor configuration rule defining conditional logic to be applied to data indicative of the interactions by individual visitors with the content site; receiving visitor data associated with the visitors of the content site, the visitor data obtained from a data collection tag embedded within code of one or more content pages of the content site, the data collection tag configured to identify the interactions of the visitors with the content site and report the interactions as at least part of the visitor data; transforming the visitor data by at least assigning one or more of the custom attributes including the designated custom attribute to at least some of the visitors
