What is claimed is: 1 . A blender jar comprising: a thin-walled glass liner; and a plastic structural shell around the glass liner providing structural support for the glass liner. 2 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the glass liner has a first side wall and a first bottom wall at least partially defining a first cavity configured to receive items for processing. 3 . A blender jar as defined in claim 2 , wherein the plastic shell has a second side wall and a second bottom wall at least partially defining a second cavity configured to receive the glass liner. 4 . A blender jar as defined in claim 3 , wherein the first side wall has a first rib at least partially extending into the first cavity, and the second side wall has a second rib dimensioned according to the first rib, the second rib positioned in the first rib when the glass liner is positioned within the plastic shell. 5 . A blender jar as defined in claim 3 , further comprising: a first aperture defined through the first bottom wall; a corresponding second aperture defined through the second bottom wall; and a blade assembly mounted to the blender jar through the first and second apertures. 6 . A blender jar as defined in claim 5 , wherein the plastic shell includes a base portion for removeably coupling the blender jar and the blade assembly to a blender base. 7 . A blender jar as defined in claim 5 , wherein the blade assembly is fixedly mounted to the blender jar. 8 . A blender jar as defined in claim 2 , wherein the first side wall tapers inward from the first bottom wall, and the second side wall tapers inward from the second bottom wall corresponding to the first taper, the taper of the second side wall retaining the glass liner within the plastic shell. 9 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the glass liner is press fit into the plastic shell. 10 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the plastic shell is molded onto the glass liner. 11 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the plastic shell comprises impact resistant plastic. 12 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the plastic shell is bonded to the glass liner. 13 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , further comprising an air gap between at least a portion of the glass liner and the plastic shell. 14 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , further comprising a vacuum between at least a portion of the glass liner and the plastic shell. 15 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the plastic shell is sealed to the glass liner. 16 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the glass liner has first threads, and the plastic shell has second threads, the glass liner threaded into the plastic shell via the first and second threads. 17 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the glass liner and plastic shell are removeably assembled. 18 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the glass liner comprises a borosilicate glass material, and has a thickness in the range of 3 millimeters (mm) to 4 mm. 19 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the plastic shell only partially covers the glass liner. 20 . A blender jar as defined in claim 1 , wherein the plastic shell comprises a non-structural member selected for at least one of ornamentation, decoration, and/or aesthetics.
