Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Corrosion inhibitor compositions are provided that can include a mixture of one or more transition metals, one or more organic phosphates, one or more inorganic phosphates, optionally a dispersant, and hydroxyphosphono acetic acid and/or salts thereof. Methods of mitigating or inhibiting corrosion of housing or conduits containing aqueous mediums are also disclosed. The methods can include the steps of pretreating the metal conduit with a mixture of one or more transition metals, one or more organic phosphates, one or more inorganic phosphates, and hydroxyphosphono acetic acid, introducing an aqueous medium into the metal conduit, and injecting a mixture of one or more transition metals, one or more organic phosphates, one or more inorganic phosphates, and hydroxyphosphono acetic acid and/or salts thereof into the aqueous medium.

What is claimed is: 1 . A corrosion inhibitor composition comprising: a mixture comprising one or more transition metals, one or more organic phosphates, and one or more inorganic phosphates; and hydroxyphosphono acetic acid and/or salts thereof. 2 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition further comprises a dispersant, wherein said dispersant is present in an amount ranging from about 1 ppm to about 50 ppm. 3 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 2 , wherein said dispersant is present in an amount of about 5 ppm to about 15 ppm. 4 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said mixture of one or more transition metals, one or more organic phosphates, and one or more inorganic phosphates is present in an amount ranging from about 2 ppm to about 500 ppm. 5 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said mixture of one or more transition metals, one or more organic phosphates, and one or more inorganic phosphates is present in an amount ranging from about 2.5 ppm to about 5 ppm. 6 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said hydroxyphosphono acetic acid and/or salts thereof is present in an amount ranging from about 1 ppm to about 50 ppm. 7 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said hydroxyphosphono acetic acid and/or salts thereof is present in an amount ranging from about 1.25 ppm to about 5 ppm. 8 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said one or more transition metals comprises zinc. 9 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said mixture of one or more transition metals, one or more organic phosphates, and one or more inorganic phosphates is present in an amount of about 5 ppm to 20 ppm, said hydroxyphosphono acetic acid and/or salts thereof is present in an amount of about 2.5 ppm to about 10 ppm, and said one or more transition metals comprises zinc. 10 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 9 , further comprising a dispersant. 11 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 2 , wherein said dispersant is selected from the group consisting of polymers comprising acrylic acid with sulfonated monomers, copolymers comprising acrylic acid with sulfonated monomers, polymers comprising acrylamide with sulfonated monomers, and copolymers comprising acrylamide with sulfonated monomers. 12 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 2 , wherein said dispersant is selected from the group consisting of a copolymer of acrylic acid and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, a copolymer of acrylic acid and acrylamide, and a terpolymer of acrylic acid, acrylamide, and sulfonated acrylamide. 13 . The corrosion inhibitor composition of claim 1 , wherein said one or more organic phosphates comprise one or more members selected from the group consisting of phospheno containing compounds, phosphono containing compounds, and phosphonate containing compounds, and further wherein said inorganic phosphates comprise orthophosphate.
