Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Embodiments include a system comprising a gateway that includes a processor coupled to sensors and/or network devices installed at a premises. The system includes a remote server coupled to the gateway and located remote to the premises. The gateway and/or the remote server includes data of the sensors and/or network devices. The system includes an application running on at least one of the gateway and the remote server. The application controls events corresponding to the data and/or the premises in response to content of the data. The system includes a client interface coupled to the gateway and/or the remote server. The client interface presents the data to client devices.

What is claimed: 1 . A system comprising: a computing device configured to access captured content associated with a premises; and a user device, located remotely from the premises and configured to: send, to the computing device and based on user input, an indication of at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event, wherein the computing device is configured to determine a portion of the captured content, captured by a premises device located at the premises, associated with the at least one characteristic and to store searchable data associating the at least one characteristic with the determined portion of the captured content; receive, based on the sending the indication of the at least one characteristic, data associated with the determined portion of the captured content; and cause, based on the received data associated with the determined portion of the captured content, output of the determined portion of the captured content. 2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user device is configured to receive the data associated with the determined portion of the content based on a rating associated with the determined portion of the content. 3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user device is configured to receive the data associated with the determined portion of the content based on a process for generating a digest, wherein the determined portion of the content is output as the digest. 4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the premises device comprises one or more of a media device, a media capture device, an imaging device, an audio device, a camera, or a microphone. 5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises at least one characteristic identified by a user in previously captured content. 6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a tagged object, an identified person, an amount of identified objects, or a type of identified object. 7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user input comprises one or more of a date, data representing the user-defined event, a participant name associated with the user-defined event, a participant address associated with the user-defined event, an event address, an event start time, an event end time, a duration of the user-defined event, an event note, or a keyword associated with the user-defined event. 8 . A method comprising: sending, by a user device located remotely from a premises, to a computing device and based on user input, an indication of at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event, wherein the computing device is configured to determine a portion of captured content, captured by a premises device located at the premises, associated with the at least one characteristic and to store searchable data associating the at least one characteristic with the determined portion of the captured content; receiving, by the user device and based on the sending the indication of the at least one characteristic, data associated with the determined portion of the captured content; and causing, by the user device and based on the received data associated with the determined portion of the captured content, output of the determined portion of the captured content. 9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein receiving the data associated with the determined portion of the content is based on a rating associated with the determined portion of the content. 10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein receiving the data associated with the determined portion of the content is based on a process for generating a digest, wherein the determined portion of the content is output as the digest. 11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the premises device comprises one or more of a media device, a media capture device, an imaging device, an audio device, a camera, or a microphone. 12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises at least one characteristic identified by a user in previously captured content. 13 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a tagged object, an identified person, an amount of identified objects, or a type of identified object. 14 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the user input comprises one or more of a date, data representing the user-defined event, a participant name associated with the user-defined event, a participant address associated with the user-defined event, an event address, an event start time, an event end time, a duration of the user-defined event, an event note, or a keyword associated with the user-defined event. 15 . A device comprising: one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to: send, to a computing device and based on user input, an indication of at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event, wherein the computing device is configured to determine a portion of captured content, captured by a premises device located at a premises, associated with the at least one characteristic and to store searchable data associating the at least one characteristic with the determined portion of the captured content, and wherein the device is located remotely from the premises; receive, based on the sending the indication of the at least one characteristic, data associated with the determined portion of the captured content; and cause, based on the received data associated with the determined portion of the captured content, output of the determined portion of the captured content. 16 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to receive the data associated with the determined portion of the content comprises instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to receive the data associated with the determined portion of the content based on a rating associated with the determined portion of the content. 17 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to receive the data associated with the determined portion of the content comprises instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to receive the data associated with the determined portion of the content based on a process for generating a digest, wherein the determined portion of the content is output as the digest. 18 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the premises device comprises one or more of a media device, a media capture device, an imaging device, an audio device, a camera, or a microphone. 19 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises at least one characteristic identified by a user in previously captured content. 20 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a tagged object, an identified person, an amount of identified objects, or a type of identified object. 21 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the user input comprises one or more of a date, data representing the user-defined event, a participant name associated with the user-defined event, a participant address associated with the user-defined event, an event address, an event start time, an event end time, a duration of the user-defined event, an event note, or a keyword associated with the user-defined event.
