Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Devices, systems, and methods related to wireless power transfer for vehicles can include a wireless power transfer assembly which may be coupled with the vehicle chassis. The assembly can include a shielding body, and a power coil assembly arranged on one side of the shielding body for wireless power transfer. The assembly can include a capacitor bank assembly for providing capacitance for wireless power transfer. The capacitor bank assembly can be arranged on an opposite side of the shielding body, and can include at least one capacitor bank having at least one compression plate and a number of capacitors connected in series via a bus bar assembly. The number of capacitors of the at least one capacitor bank can be arranged between the corresponding at least one compression plate and the shielding body, and the at least one compression plate can be secured with the shielding body for clamping.

What is claimed is: 1 . A vehicle capable of wireless power transfer, the vehicle comprising: a vehicle chassis; and a wireless power transfer assembly coupled with the vehicle chassis, the assembly comprising: a shielding body; a power coil assembly arranged on one side of the shielding body for wireless power transfer; and a capacitor bank assembly for providing capacitance for wireless power transfer, the capacitor bank assembly arranged on an opposite side of the shielding body and comprising at least one capacitor bank including at least one compression plate and a number of capacitors connected in series via a bus bar assembly, the number of capacitors of the at least one capacitor bank arranged between the corresponding at least one compression plate and the shielding body, wherein the at least one compression plate is secured with the shielding body for clamping. 2 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the bus bar assembly of the at least one capacitor bank is arranged between the number of capacitors and the corresponding at least one compression plate. 3 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the number of capacitors of the at least one capacitor bank are secured with the corresponding bus bar assembly by one or more fasteners. 4 . The vehicle of claim 3 , wherein the one or more fasteners extend through the number of capacitors having one or more corresponding fastener nuts arranged on one side of the bus bar assembly. 5 . The vehicle of claim 4 , wherein the at least one compression plate of the at least one capacitor bank defines one or more fastener holes for receiving corresponding fastener nuts therein. 6 . The vehicle of claim 4 , wherein the at least one capacitor bank comprises electrical insulation lining arranged between the one or more fastener nuts. 7 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the at least one compression plate of the at least one capacitor bank includes notching defined on one side for engagement with the corresponding capacitors and bus bar assembly for alignment. 8 . The vehicle of claim 7 , wherein the notching comprises raised notches. 9 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the at least one capacitor bank assembly is arranged in thermal contact with the shielding body to provide cooling to the capacitor bank assembly. 10 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the at least one of the capacitor bank is connected in series with the power coil assembly. 11 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the power coil assembly is connected in series between at least two of the capacitor banks. 12 . A vehicle wireless power transfer assembly comprising: a shielding body; a power coil assembly arranged on one side of the shielding body for wireless power transfer; and a capacitor bank assembly for providing capacitance for wireless power transfer, the capacitor bank assembly arranged on an opposite side of the shielding body and comprising at least one capacitor bank including at least one compression plate and a number of capacitors connected in series via a bus bar assembly, the number of capacitors of the at least one capacitor bank arranged between the corresponding at least one compression plate and the shielding body, wherein the at least one compression plate is secured with the shielding body for clamping. 13 . The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the bus bar assembly of the at least one capacitor bank is arranged between the number of capacitors and the corresponding at least one compression plate. 14 . The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the number of capacitors of the at least one capacitor bank are secured with the corresponding bus bar assembly by one or more fasteners. 15 . The assembly of claim 14 , wherein the one or more fasteners extend through the number of capacitors having one or more corresponding fastener nuts arranged on one side of the bus bar assembly. 16 . The assembly of claim 15 , wherein the at least one compression plate of the at least one capacitor bank defines one or more fastener holes for receiving corresponding fastener nuts therein. 17 . The assembly of claim 15 , wherein the at least one capacitor bank comprises electrical insulation lining arranged between the one or more fastener nuts. 18 . The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the at least one compression plate of the at least one capacitor bank includes notching defined on one side for engagement with the corresponding capacitors and bus bar assembly for alignment. 19 . The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the at least one capacitor bank assembly is arranged in thermal contact with the shielding body to provide cooling to the capacitor bank assembly. 20 . The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the at least one capacitor bank is connected in series with the power coil assembly.
