Abstract

In some embodiments, an electronic device displays a virtual keyboard, wherein the virtual keyboard includes a plurality of selectable representations of a plurality of graphical objects. In some embodiments, the electronic device receives a user input selecting a first selectable representation of a first graphical object, wherein the first graphical object is associated with a first customizable visual element and a second customizable visual element. In some embodiments, in response to receiving the user input and in accordance with a determination that one or more first criteria are satisfied, the electronic device displays, via the display device, a customization user interface, including a first section for customizing the first customizable visual element, a second section for customizing the second customizable visual element, and a third section for displaying a first respective representation of the first graphical object that indicates a current state of customization of the first graphical object.

First claim

The invention claimed is:

1 . A method, comprising:
at an electronic device in communication with a display device and an input device: displaying, via the display device, a user interface including a text entry region and a virtual keyboard, wherein the virtual keyboard includes a plurality of selectable representations of graphical objects; while displaying the user interface, receiving, via the input device, a first user input selecting a representation of a first graphical object from the plurality of selectable representations of graphical objects, wherein the representation of the first graphical object corresponds to a customizable graphical object; and in response to receiving the first user input:
in accordance with a determination that the customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with only one customizable graphical portion, displaying, via the display device, a first customization user interface, including a plurality of selectable options including a first selectable option and a second selectable option, wherein:
the first selectable option is selectable to insert, into the text entry region, a first customized variant of the first graphical object, and
the second selectable option is selectable to insert, into the text entry region, a second customized variant of the first graphical object, different from the first customized variant of the first graphical object; and

in accordance with a determination that the customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with a plurality of customizable graphical portions, displaying, via the display device, a second customization user interface, including a plurality of selectable options including a third selectable option and a fourth selectable option, wherein:
the third selectable option is selectable to update the first graphical object to be a third customized variant of the first graphical object without inserting, into the text entry region, the third customized variant of the first graphical object, and
the fourth selectable option is selectable to update the first graphical object to be a fourth customized variant, different from the third customized variant, of the first graphical object without inserting, into the text entry region, the fourth customized variant of the first graphical object.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the determination that the customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with only one customizable graphical portion is part of a determination that one or more first criteria are satisfied, including a criterion that is satisfied when the first graphical object is a first type of customizable graphical object, wherein the first type of customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with only one customizable graphical portion, the determination that the customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with a plurality of customizable graphical portions is part of a determination that one or more second criteria, different from the one or more first criteria are satisfied, including a criterion that is satisfied when the first graphical object is of a second type of customizable graphical object, different from the first type of customizable graphical object, wherein the second type of customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with a plurality of customizable graphical portions, and the one or more first criteria and the one or more second criteria include a criterion that is satisfied when a state of customization of the first graphical object is not a state of completed customization.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
in response to receiving the first user input:
in accordance with a determination that the one or more first criteria and the one or more second criteria are not satisfied because the state of customization of the first graphical object is the state of completed customization, inserting, into the text entry region, a respective customized variant of the first graphical object corresponding to the completed customization.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein
the first customization user interface does not include a preview of a respective customized variant of the first graphical object; and the second customization user interface includes a preview of the respective customized variant of the first graphical object.

5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising:
while displaying the second customization user interface, receiving, via the input device, a second user input selecting the preview of the respective customized variant of the first graphical object; and in response to receiving the second user input:
inserting, into the text entry region, the respective customized variant of the first graphical object.

6 . An electronic device in communication with a display device and an input device, the electronic device comprising:
one or more processors; memory; and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for: displaying, via the display device, a user interface including a text entry region and a virtual keyboard, wherein the virtual keyboard includes a plurality of selectable representations of graphical objects; while displaying the user interface, receiving, via the input device, a first user input selecting a representation of a first graphical object from the plurality of selectable representations of graphical objects, wherein the representation of the first graphical object corresponds to a customizable graphical object; and in response to receiving the first user input:
in accordance with a determination that customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with only one customizable graphical portion, displaying, via the display device, a first customization user interface, including a plurality of selectable options including a first selectable option and a second selectable option, wherein:
the first selectable option is selectable to insert, into the text entry region, a first customized variant of the first graphical object, and
the second selectable option is selectable to insert, into the text entry region, a second customized variant of the first graphical object, different from the first customized variant of the first graphical object; and

in accordance with a determination that one or more second criteria are satisfied, different from the one or more first criteria, including a criterion that is satisfied when the first graphical object is of a second type of customizable graphical object, different from the first type of customizable graphical object, wherein the second type of customizable graphical object is a graphical object associated with a plurality of customizable graphical portions, displaying, via the display device, a second customization user interface, including a plurality of selectable options including a third selectable option and a fourth selectable option, wherein:
the third selectable option is selectable to update the first graphical object to be a third customized variant of the first graphical object without inserting, into the text entry region, the third customized variant of the first graphical object, and
the fourth selectable option is selectable to update the first graphical object to be a fourth customized variant, different from the third customized variant, of the first graphical object without inserting, into the text entry region, the fourth customized variant of the first graphical object.
