Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A transfer case includes a mainshaft with a drive gear rotationally fixed thereto, a combined oil device, and a lubricating pump driven by the drive gear, with the lubricating pump offset from the axis of the mainshaft. The transfer case includes a rear housing, where lubricating oil is drawn from a sump at the bottom of the transfer case. The pump pressurizes the oil and delivers the oil via passageways from the radially offset pump to an annular chamber of the combined oil device. The passageways may be provided in a manifold block that is fixed to the housing. The annular chamber surrounds the mainshaft and provides fluid into a central passage thereof. The combined oil device is axially between the drive gear and a rear extension of the rear housing, and includes a sealing ring that delimits the annular chamber and separates it from the rear extension.
