Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A refuse vehicle can include a controller in communication with a hydraulic system of the refuse vehicle. The controller can control the hydraulic system to supply fluid power to a packer actuator of the refuse vehicle such that the packer actuator moves a packer of the refuse vehicle, determine that one or more other vehicle functions are active, and reduce the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator, while maintaining an amount of fluid power supplied to one or more components of the refuse vehicle, to adjust a load applied to the hydraulic system. The fluid power supplied to the packer actuator can be reduced by an amount without impacting a performance of the one or more components.

What is claimed is: 1. A refuse vehicle comprising: a body defining a storage compartment; a hydraulic system configured to: supply fluid power to a first actuator of the refuse vehicle, the first actuator configured to move a component of the refuse vehicle in a first direction relative to the storage compartment; and supply second fluid power to one or more second actuators of the refuse vehicle, the one or more second actuators of the refuse vehicle configured to perform one or more vehicle functions; and a controller in communication with the hydraulic system, the controller configured to: control the hydraulic system to supply the fluid power to the first actuator such that the first actuator moves the component, at a first rate, in the first direction; determine that the one or more vehicle functions are active; and reduce the fluid power supplied to the first actuator, while maintaining the second fluid power supplied to the one or more second actuators, to adjust a load applied to the hydraulic system, wherein the fluid power supplied to the first actuator is reduced by an amount such that the first actuator moves the component, at a second rate, in the first direction without impacting a performance of the one or more second actuators. 2. The refuse vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the hydraulic system comprises a first pump fluidly coupled to one of a grabber arm actuator, a lift arm actuator, or a fork actuator, and wherein the one or more vehicle functions are associated with the grabber arm actuator, the lift arm actuator, or the fork actuator. 3. The refuse vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the hydraulic system comprises: a first pump configured to supply first fluid to the first actuator; and a second pump configured to supply second fluid to the first actuator, wherein the controller is configured to reduce the fluid power supplied to the first actuator by reducing at least one of a pressure of the first fluid or a flow rate of the first fluid. 4. The refuse vehicle of claim 3 , wherein the pressure of the first fluid is reduced by actuating a displacement actuator of the first pump. 5. The refuse vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the hydraulic system comprises: a first pump configured to supply first fluid to the first actuator; and a second pump configured to supply second fluid to the first actuator, wherein the controller is configured to reduce the fluid power supplied to the first actuator by preventing flow of the first fluid to the first actuator. 6. The refuse vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to reduce the fluid power supplied to the first actuator based on a threshold pressure, and wherein the threshold pressure is based on a mode of operation of the refuse vehicle. 7. The refuse vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the first actuator is a packer actuator that is configured to move a packer to compress refuse within the storage compartment. 8. A refuse system, comprising: a hydraulic system configured to: supply fluid power to a first actuator of a refuse vehicle configured to perform a first vehicle function; and supply second fluid power to a second actuator of the refuse vehicle configured to perform a second vehicle function; and a controller in communication with the hydraulic system, the controller configured to: control the hydraulic system to supply the fluid power to the first actuator such that the first actuator moves a component of the refuse vehicle at a first rate; determine that the second actuator is active; and reduce the fluid power supplied to the first actuator, while maintaining the second fluid power supplied to the second actuator, to adjust a load applied to the hydraulic system, wherein the fluid power supplied to the first actuator is reduced by an amount such that the first actuator moves the component, at a second rate, without impacting a performance of the second actuator. 9. The refuse system of claim 8 , wherein the hydraulic system comprises a first pump fluidly coupled to one of a grabber arm actuator, a lift arm actuator, or a fork actuator, and wherein at least one of the first vehicle function or the second vehicle function is associated with the grabber arm actuator, the lift arm actuator, or the fork actuator. 10. The refuse system of claim 8 , wherein the hydraulic system comprises: a first pump configured to supply first fluid to the first actuator; and a second pump configured to supply second fluid to the first actuator, wherein the controller is configured to reduce the fluid power supplied to the first actuator by reducing at least one of a pressure of the first fluid or a flow rate of the first fluid. 11.
