A tungsten wire that contains tungsten or a tungsten alloy is provided. An average width of surface crystal grains in a direction perpendicular to an axis of the tungsten wire is at most 98 nm. The tungsten wire has a tensile strength of at least 3900 MPa. The tungsten wire has a diameter of at least 100 μm and at most 225 μm.

The invention claimed is: 1. A tungsten wire containing tungsten or a tungsten alloy, wherein an average width of surface crystal grains in a direction perpendicular to an axis of the tungsten wire is at most 98 nm, a tensile strength of the tungsten wire is at least 3900 MPa, and a diameter of the tungsten wire is larger than 100 μm and at most 225 μm, and a tungsten content of the tungsten wire is at least 99 wt %. 2. A screen mesh comprising a plurality of tungsten wires each being the tungsten wire according to claim 1 . 3. A tungsten wire containing tungsten or a tungsten alloy, wherein an average width of surface crystal grains in a direction perpendicular to an axis of the tungsten wire is at most 98 nm, a tensile strength of the tungsten wire is at least 3900 MPa, a diameter of the tungsten wire is at least 18 μm and at most 225 μm, and T≥4758×D 2 −7258.3×D+5275.5 is satisfied where T is the tensile strength in MPa and D is the diameter in mm. 4. A saw wire comprising a tungsten wire containing tungsten or a tungsten alloy, wherein an average width of surface crystal grains in a direction perpendicular to an axis of the tungsten wire is at most 98 nm, a tensile strength of the tungsten wire is at least 3900 MPa, and a diameter of the tungsten wire is larger than 100 μm and at most 225 μm.
