Opening claim text (preview).
The invention claimed is: 1. A chemical foaming agent comprising one or more of the following compounds shown as structures (III) through (IX): where Ts is a p-toluenesulfonyl group. 2. A process of foaming a polyolefin, said process comprising: (a) combining a polyolefin with a chemical foaming agent to thereby form a foamable polyolefin composition; and (b) subjecting the foamable polyolefin composition to a foaming process, wherein the chemical foaming agent comprises one or more of the following compounds shown as structures (III) through (IX): where Ts is a p-toluenesulfonyl group. 3. The process of claim 2 , wherein the chemical foaming agent is present in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 weight percent, based on the total weight of the foamable polyolefin composition, wherein the polyolefin comprises an ethylene-based polymer, wherein the polyolefin is present in an amount ranging from 90 to 99.9 weight percent, based on the total weight of the foamable polyolefin composition. 4. The process of claim 3 , wherein the foamable polyolefin composition further comprises an additive selected from the group consisting of antioxidants, cell stabilizers, and combinations thereof.
