A filtration system includes a filter housing having a cavity and a base, a drain defined in the base, a channel defined in the base and in fluid communication with the drain, and a filter cartridge having a longitudinal axis and being movable between an installed position within the cavity of the filter housing and an uninstalled position outside the cavity of the filter housing. The channel defines an outer diameter. The filter cartridge includes a bottom endplate defining an outer diameter that is greater than the outer diameter of the channel so that, in the installed position, the bottom endplate covers the channel and prevents fluid flow from the cavity to the drain, and a filter media extending axially outwardly from the bottom endplate.

What is claimed is: 1. A filtration system, comprising: a filter housing including a cavity and a base, wherein the base of the filter housing defines an inlet and an outlet in fluid communication with the inlet; a drain defined in the base; a channel defined in the base and in fluid communication with the drain, the channel defining an outer diameter; and a filter cartridge defining a longitudinal axis and being movable between an installed position within the cavity of the filter housing and an uninstalled position outside the cavity of the filter housing, in the installed position, a first flow path that extends from the inlet into the filter cartridge and to the outlet, the filter cartridge comprising: a bottom endplate defining an outer diameter that is greater than the outer diameter of the channel so that, in the installed position, the bottom endplate covers the channel and prevents fluid flow through the channel to the drain; and a filter media extending axially outwardly from the bottom endplate. 2. The filtration system of claim 1 , further comprising a pressure bypass valve positioned in the base and movable between a first position restricting flow and a second position permitting flow, wherein in the second position, the pressure bypass valve provides a secondary flow path through the filter housing without passing through the filter cartridge, the pressure bypass valve moving to the second position when a threshold fluid pressure is reached within the filter cartridge. 3. The filtration system of claim 1 , further comprising a sleeve positioned within the base, the sleeve circumferentially surrounding the filter cartridge and being located between the inlet and the filter cartridge when the filter cartridge is in the installed position. 4. The filtration system of claim 3 , wherein an exterior of the sleeve and the base define a gap therebetween to direct fluid circumferentially about the filter cartridge, and wherein a slot is formed within the sleeve to define a fluid pathway from the gap into the cavity of the filter housing. 5. The filtration system of claim 4 , wherein a width of the gap is between approximately 0.001 inches and approximately 0.1 inches. 6. The filtration system of claim 1 , further comprising a pipe coupled to the base and configured to be at least partially received by the filter cartridge in the installed position. 7. The filtration system of claim 1 , wherein in the uninstalled position, the bottom endplate uncovers the channel so that fluid flow is allowed between the cavity and the drain. 8. A filtration system, comprising: a filter housing including a cavity, an inlet, an outlet, and a drain, wherein the drain is in fluid communication with a channel that is formed between a first raised surface and a second raised surface; and a filter cartridge defining a longitudinal axis and being removably arranged within the cavity of the filter housing, the filter cartridge comprising: a bottom endplate including a bottom surface in engagement with both the first raised surface and the second raised surface so that fluid communication is inhibited through the channel and to the drain; and a filter media extending axially outwardly from the bottom endplate. 9. The filtration system of claim 8 , further comprising a pipe coupled to the filter housing, the pipe extending into a filter outlet opening of the bottom endplate. 10. The filtration system of claim 9 , wherein the pipe is received by the filter outlet opening so that the pipe extends along the longitudinal axis and is located within the filter media, and wherein the pipe fluidly couples an interior of the filter media to the outlet. 11. The filtration system of claim 10 , further comprising a pressure bypass valve positioned in the filter housing and movable between a first position restricting flow and a second position permitting flow, wherein in the second position, the pressure bypass valve provides a flow path through the filter housing without passing through the filter cartridge, the pressure bypass valve moving to the second position when a threshold fluid pressure is reached within the filter cartridge. 12. The filtration system of claim 8 , further comprising a sleeve positioned within the cavity, the sleeve circumferentially surrounding the filter cartridge and being located between the inlet and the filter cartridge. 13. The filtration system of claim 12 , wherein an exterior of the sleeve and the filter housing define a gap therebetween to direct fluid circumferentially about the filter cartridge, and wherein a slot is formed within the sleeve to define a fluid pathway from the gap into the cavity of the filter housing. 14. The filtration system of claim 13 , wherein a width of the gap is between approximately 0.001 inches and approximately 0.1 inches. 15. A filtration system, comprising: a filter housing including a cavity and a base, wherein the base of the filter housing defines an inlet and an outlet in fluid communication with the inlet; a drain defined in the base; a channel defined in the base and in fluid communication with the drain, the channel defining an outer diameter; a filter cartridge defining a longitudinal axis and being movable between an installed position within the cavity of the filter housing and an uninstalled position outside the cavity of the filter housing, in the installed position, a first flow path extends from the inlet into the filter cartridge and to the outlet, the filter cartridge comprising: a bottom endplate defining an outer diameter that is greater than the outer diameter of the channel so that, in the installed position, the bottom endplate covers the channel and prevents fluid flow through the channel to the drain; and a filter media extending axially outwardly from the bottom endplate; and a pressure bypass valve positioned in the base and movable, in response to a pressure within the filter cartridge reaching a threshold fluid pressure, to allow fluid flow along a flow path that extends through the filter housing and that bypasses the filter cartridge. 16. The filtration system of claim 15 , further comprising a sleeve positioned within the cavity, the sleeve circumferentially surrounding the filter cartridge. 17. The filtration system of claim 16 , wherein an exterior of the sleeve and the base define a gap therebetween to direct fluid circumferentially about the filter cartridge, and wherein a slot is formed within the sleeve to define a fluid pathway from the gap into the cavity of the filter housing. 18. The filtration system of claim 15 , further comprising a pipe coupled to the base and configured to be at least partially received by the filter cartridge in the installed position. 19. The filtration system of claim 15 , wherein in the uninstalled position, the bottom endplate uncovers the channel so that fluid flow is allowed between the cavity and the drain.
