An example operation includes one or more of determining a first carbon footprint of a first mode of transportation and a second carbon footprint of a second mode of transportation, where the first mode of transportation is a primary mode of transportation and the second carbon footprint is less than the first carbon footprint, responsive to the first carbon footprint being above a threshold, calculating a period of time the second mode of transportation is utilized to negate an amount above the threshold, and sending a notification to use the second mode of transportation for the period of time.

What is claimed is: 1. A method, comprising: determining a first carbon footprint of a first mode of transportation and a second carbon footprint of a second mode of transportation, wherein the first mode of transportation is a primary mode of transportation and the second carbon footprint is less than the first carbon footprint; responsive to the first carbon footprint being above a threshold, calculating a period of time the second mode of transportation is utilized to negate an amount above the threshold; and sending a notification to use the second mode of transportation for the period of time. 2. The method of claim 1 , comprising: determining a projected arrival time at a location is later than a scheduled time when using the second mode of transportation; and sending a notification to use the first mode of transportation to travel to the location. 3. The method of claim 1 , comprising: determining a difference between the first carbon footprint and the threshold; determining an energy usage rate for the second mode of transportation; and dividing the difference by the energy usage rate to determine the period of time, corresponding to the difference. 4. The method of claim 1 , comprising: determining a more efficient route to a location than a route determined by the first mode of transportation; determining a reduction in the first carbon footprint due to the more efficient route; and reducing the period of time by an amount corresponding to the reduction. 5. The method of claim 1 , comprising: delaying utilizing the first mode of transportation; determining an energy credit corresponding to an amount of travel delay; and applying the energy credit to one or more of the threshold or the time period. 6. The method of claim 1 , comprising: obtaining a destination from the first mode of transportation; receiving a notification, from a user device, of a user associated with the first mode of transportation utilizing an alternate mode of transportation to the destination; and determining an energy credit based on the alternate mode of transportation. 7. The method of claim 1 , comprising: determining the first and second modes of transportation have not been used for a second period of time; determining an energy credit based on the second period of time; and applying the energy credit to a location. 8. A system, comprising: a processor; and a memory, coupled to the processor, comprising instructions that when executed by the processor are configured to: determine a first carbon footprint of a first mode of transportation and a second carbon footprint of a second mode of transportation, wherein the first mode of transportation is a primary mode of transportation and the second carbon footprint is less than the first carbon footprint; responsive to the first carbon footprint is above a threshold, calculate a period of time the second mode of transportation is utilized to negate an amount above the threshold; and send a notification to use the second mode of transportation for the period of time. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are configured to: determine a projected arrival time at a location is later than a scheduled time when the second mode of transportation is used; and send a notification to use the first mode of transportation to travel to the location. 10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are configured to: determine a difference between the first carbon footprint and the threshold; determine n energy usage rate for the second mode of transportation; and divide the difference by the energy usage rate to determine the period of time, that corresponds to the difference. 11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are configured to: determine a more efficient route to a location than a route determined by the first mode of transportation; determine a reduction in the first carbon footprint due to the more efficient route; and reduce the period of time by an amount that corresponds to the reduction. 12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are configured to: delay use of the first mode of transportation; determine an energy credit that corresponds to an amount of travel delay; and apply the energy credit to one or more of the threshold or the time period. 13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are configured to: obtain a destination from the first mode of transportation; receive a notification, from a user device, of a user associated with the first mode of transportation that uses an alternate mode of transportation to the destination; and determine an energy credit based on the alternate mode of transportation. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are configured to: determine the first and second modes of transportation have not been used for a second period of time; determine an energy credit based on the second period of time; and apply the energy credit to a location. 15. A computer readable storage medium comprising instructions, that when read by a processor, cause the processor to perform: determining a first carbon footprint of a first mode of transportation and a second carbon footprint of a second mode of transportation, wherein the first mode of transportation is a primary mode of transportation and the second carbon footprint is less than the first carbon footprint; responsive to the first carbon footprint being above a threshold, calculating a period of time the second mode of transportation is utilized to negate an amount above the threshold; and sending a notification to use the second mode of transportation for the period of time. 16. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform: determining a projected arrival time at a location is later than a scheduled time when using the second mode of transportation; and sending a notification to use the first mode of transportation to travel to the location. 17. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform: determining a difference between the first carbon footprint and the threshold; determining an energy usage rate for the second mode of transportation; and dividing the difference by the energy usage rate to determine the period of time, corresponding to the difference. 18. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform: determining a more efficient route to a location than a route determined by the first mode of transportation; determining a reduction in the first carbon footprint due to the more efficient route; and reducing the period of time by an amount corresponding to the reduction. 19.
