Described herein are zinc-amino acid-lauryl sulfate complexes and oral care compositions comprising the same; and methods of making and using the same are also described.
First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. An oral care composition comprising a zinc-amino acid-lauryl sulfate complex, wherein the zinc-amino acid-lauryl sulfate complex is added to the composition as a preformed complex. 2. The oral care composition of claim 1 , wherein the zinc-amino acid-lauryl sulfate complex is present in an amount of 0.1 to 10% by weight of the composition. 3. The oral care composition of claim 1 , wherein the oral care composition is a dentifrice. 4. The oral care composition of claim 1 , wherein the oral care composition comprises a fluoride ion source. 5. The oral care composition of claim 1 , wherein the zinc-amino acid-lauryl sulfate has a chemical structure [Zn(amino acid) 2 ](LS) 2 . 6. The oral care composition of any preceding claim 1 , wherein the complex is water insoluble. 7. The oral care composition of any preceding claim 1 , wherein the amino acid is a basic amino acid. 8. The oral care composition of claim 7 , wherein the basic amino acid is arginine or lysine. 9. The oral care composition of claim 8 , wherein the basic amino acid is arginine and the complex has a chemical structure [Zn(Arg) 2 ](LS) 2 . 10. The oral care composition of claim 8 , wherein the basic amino acid is lysine and the complex has a chemical structure [Zn(Lys) 2 ](LS) 2 .
