A disinfecting system includes a housing. An ultraviolet light (UV) source is secured to the housing and configured to emit UV light for disinfection of a target. A processor is secured to the housing in communication with the UV light source. The processor is configured to activate the UV light source for a selected amount of time suitable for disinfection of the target.

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a housing containing: at least one ultraviolet (UV) light source configured to project UV light for at least one of disinfection, sanitization, and sterilization; and at least one of a camera and a sensor configured to detect at least one of a disinfection, sanitization, and sterilization characteristic of at least one object exposed to the UV light and to provide a signal representative of the characteristic; a computing device having a processor configured to receive the signal from at least one of the camera and sensor to generate control instructions based on the received signal; an interface connected to the computing device and configured to communicate between the computing device and the UV light source; and a conveyor system adapted to convey the at least one object through the housing for exposure to the UV light source. 2. The system set forth in claim 1 , wherein the computing device is configured to control the dosage of UV light emitted by the UV light source through the interface to ensure the at least one object conveyed through the housing is at least one of disinfected, sanitized, and sterilized. 3. The system set forth in claim 2 , further comprising the computing system provide an output indication of at least one of the disinfection, sanitization, and sterilization of the at least one object following exposure to the dosage of UV light. 4. The system set forth in claim 1 , wherein the UV light source comprises at least one of a UV LED, UV LED array, fluorescent bulb, and laser. 5. The system set forth in claim 1 , wherein the housing is configured to prevent transmission of UV light to at least one of the skin and eyes of an individual. 6. The system set forth in claim 5 , further comprising a viewable shield incorporated into the housing such that the interior of the housing is viewable by an individual wherein the viewable shield is configured to prevent transmission of UV light to at least one of the skin and eyes of the individual. 7. The system set forth in claim 1 , further comprising reflective surfaces within the inner surfaces of the housing, wherein the reflective surfaces are configured to increase a number of surfaces exposed to UV light on the at least one object conveyed through the housing. 8. The system set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a fluid sanitizing system comprising a sanitizing agent, a reservoir configured to retain the sanitizing agent, and a nozzle configured to spray the sanitizing agent on the at least one object. 9. The system set forth in claim 1 , wherein the dosage of UV light is controlled to inhibit penetrating surfaces of the at least one object. 10. A system comprising: a housing containing at least one ultraviolet (UV) light source configured to project UV light; a conveyor system adapted to convey at least one object through the housing; and at least one of a camera and a sensor configured to detect exposure of the at least one object to the UV light source. 11. The system set forth in claim 10 , wherein the housing is configured to prevent transmission of UV light to at least one of the skin and eyes of an individual. 12. The system set forth in claim 11 , further comprising a viewable shield incorporated into the housing such that the interior of the housing is viewable by an individual wherein the viewable shield is configured to prevent transmission of UV light to at least one of the skin and eyes of the individual. 13. The system set forth in claim 10 , further comprising reflective surfaces within the inner surfaces of the housing, wherein the reflective surfaces are configured to increase a number of surfaces on the at least one object conveyed through the housing exposed to UV light. 14. The system set forth in claim 10 , further comprising a fluid sanitizing system comprising a sanitizing agent, a reservoir configured to retain the sanitizing agent, and a nozzle configured to spray the sanitizing agent on the at least one object. 15. The system set forth in claim 10 , wherein the dosage of UV light is controlled to inhibit penetrating surfaces of the at least one object. 16. The system set forth in claim 10 , wherein the UV light is configured to at least one of disinfect, sanitize, and sterilize the at least one object. 17. A method comprising: connecting at least one ultraviolet (UV) light source to a computing device through an interface; projecting UV light with the UV light source; conveying at least one object to the UV light source; exposing the at least one object to the UV light source; conveying at least one object away from the UV light source; detecting and providing a signal representative of at least one disinfection, sanitization, and sterilization characteristic of the at least one object exposed to the UV light source with at least one of a sensor and a camera; receiving the signal and generating control instructions with a processor in the computing device; transferring control instructions from the computing device to the UV light source using an interface; controlling the dosage of UV light emitted by the UV light source through the interface; ensuring the at least one object is at least one of disinfected, sanitized, and sterilized; and providing a corresponding output indication. 18. The method set forth in claim 17 , further comprising spraying the at least one object with a sanitizing agent. 19. The method set forth in claim 17 , wherein the at least one object is conveyed to the UV light source and conveyed away from the UV light source on a conveyor system. 20. The method set forth in claim 17 , further comprising controlling the dosage of UV light to inhibit penetrating surfaces of the at least one object.
