Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A vehicle system includes a chassis and a lift assembly. The chassis includes a frame defining a first aperture and a second aperture. The lift assembly includes an adapter assembly and a lift device. The adapter assembly includes (a) an adapter defining a first pin aperture, a second pin aperture, and an adapter aperture, (b) a first pin extending through the first aperture and the first pin aperture and a second pin extending through the second aperture and the second pin aperture to selectively couple the adapter to the frame, and (c) a cross member configured to be received by the adapter aperture. The lift device includes a pair of receivers configured to engage the cross member of the adapter assembly to support the cross member. The first pin aperture and the adapter aperture each extend laterally when the adapter is coupled to the frame.

The invention claimed is: 1. A vehicle system, comprising: a chassis including a frame defining a first aperture and a second aperture; and a lift assembly including: an adapter assembly including: an adapter defining a first pin aperture, a second pin aperture, and an adapter aperture; a first pin extending through the first aperture and the first pin aperture and a second pin extending through the second aperture and the second pin aperture to selectively couple the adapter to the frame, wherein the first pin aperture and the adapter aperture each extend laterally when the adapter is coupled to the frame; and a cross member configured to extend laterally to be received by the adapter aperture; and a lift device including: a lift base; and a pair of receivers coupled to the lift base and configured to engage the cross member of the adapter assembly to support the cross member, wherein the pair of receivers each comprise a semicircular shape and have an open upper portion. 2. The vehicle system of claim 1 , wherein the adapter is a first adapter, and wherein the adapter assembly includes a second adapter selectively coupled to the frame and coupled to the cross member. 3. The vehicle system of claim 2 , wherein the second adapter defines an adapter aperture, and wherein the cross member is configured to extend laterally across the chassis to be received by each adapter aperture. 4. The vehicle system of claim 1 , wherein the pair of receivers partially enclose the cross member such that the cross member is liftable vertically by the pair of receivers. 5. The vehicle system of claim 4 , wherein the lift assembly further includes a pair of stands configured to receive the cross member and support the chassis in an elevated position, and wherein both the pair of stands and the pair of receivers are simultaneously engageable with the cross member. 6. The vehicle system of claim 5 , wherein the pair of receivers are spaced apart a first distance, wherein the pair of stands are configured to be spaced apart a second distance greater than the first distance, and wherein the pair of receivers are disengageable from the cross member while the pair of stands support the chassis in the elevated position. 7. A vehicle system, comprising: a chassis including a frame defining a first aperture and a second aperture; and a lift assembly including: an adapter assembly including: an adapter defining a first pin aperture, a second pin aperture, and an adapter aperture, the adapter including a pair of plates spaced apart from one another and configured to receive a portion of the frame therebetween, the portion of the frame defining the first aperture and the second aperture; a first pin extending through the first aperture and the first pin aperture and a second pin extending through the second aperture and the second pin aperture to selectively couple the adapter to the frame, wherein the first pin aperture and the adapter aperture each extend laterally when the adapter is coupled to the frame; and a cross member configured to extend laterally to be received by the adapter aperture; and a lift device including: a lift base; and a pair of receivers coupled to the lift base and configured to engage the cross member of the adapter assembly to support the cross member. 8. A lift assembly for lifting a vehicle including a chassis, comprising: an adapter assembly including: an adapter defining a first pin aperture configured to selectively receive a first pin and a second pin aperture configured to selectively receive a second pin to selectively couple the adapter to the chassis of the vehicle, wherein the adapter defines an adapter aperture extending substantially parallel to the first pin aperture; and a cross member configured to be received by the adapter aperture; and a lift device including: a lift base; and a pair of receivers coupled to the lift base and configured to engage the cross member of the adapter assembly to support the cross member, wherein the cross member can be lifted vertically away from the pair of receivers. 9. The lift assembly of claim 8 , wherein the pair of receivers are configured to partially enclose the cross member. 10. The lift assembly of claim 9 , wherein the lift assembly further includes a pair of stands configured to receive the cross member and support the vehicle, and wherein both the pair of stands and the pair of receivers may receive the cross member simultaneously. 11. The lift assembly of claim 10 , wherein the pair of receivers are spaced apart a first distance, wherein the pair of stands are configured to be spaced apart a second distance greater than the first distance, and wherein the pair of receivers may be removed from the cross member while the pair of stands support the vehicle. 12. The lift assembly of claim 8 , wherein the adapter includes a pair of plates spaced apart from one another and configured to receive a portion of the chassis of the vehicle therebetween. 13. The lift assembly of claim 8 , wherein the adapter is a first adapter, and wherein the adapter assembly includes a second adapter selectively coupled to the chassis and configured to be coupled to the cross member. 14. A method for lifting a vehicle including a frame, comprising: providing an adapter defining an adapter aperture, a first pin aperture, and a second pin aperture, the adapter including a pair of plates spaced apart from one another; inserting a portion of the frame between the pair of plates; inserting a first pin through (a) the first pin aperture of the adapter and (b) a first aperture defined by the frame of the vehicle and inserting a second pin through (a) the second pin aperture of the adapter and (b) a second aperture defined by the frame to couple the adapter to the frame; inserting a cross member at least partially through the adapter aperture; arranging a lift base coupled to a pair of receivers under the cross member such that the pair of receivers are aligned with the cross member; raising the pair of receivers such that both receivers engage the cross member; and applying a lifting force to the adapter through the lift base such that the vehicle is selectively reconfigured from a lowered position to an elevated position. 15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising: placing a pair of stands below the cross member; and lowering the receivers such that the pair of stands engage the cross member and support the vehicle. 16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first pin aperture and the adapter aperture of the adapter extend substantially parallel to one another. 17. The method of claim 14 , wherein the adapter is a first adapter, further comprising: providing a second adapter defining an adapter aperture; coupling the second adapter to the frame of the vehicle; and inserting the cross member at least partially through each adapter aperture such that the cross member extends laterally across the vehicle. 18. The method of claim 14 , further comprising: lowering the adapter such that the vehicle is selectively reconfigured from the elevated position to the lowered position; and removing the first pin from the first pin aperture and the second pin from the second pin aperture to remove the adapter from the frame of the vehicle.
