Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A vehicle management system includes a processing circuit. The processing circuit is configured to acquire location information relating to a location of the vehicle, determine if the vehicle has arrived at a destination based on the location information, and provide a signal to switch at least one of a transmission of the vehicle or a braking subsystem of the vehicle from an operational condition to a locked condition in response to at least the vehicle arriving at the destination, thereby preventing undesired operation of the vehicle.

The invention claimed is: 1. A vehicle management system for a vehicle, the vehicle management system comprising: a processing circuit configured to: acquire location information relating to a location of the vehicle; determine if the vehicle has arrived at a destination based on the location information; and provide a signal to switch at least one of a transmission of the vehicle and a braking subsystem of the vehicle from an operational condition to a locked condition in response to at least the vehicle arriving at the destination, thereby preventing undesired operation of the vehicle. 2. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to provide the signal to switch the transmission and the braking subsystem from the operational condition to the locked condition. 3. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to provide the signal to switch the transmission from the operational condition to the locked condition, wherein the locked condition corresponds to a parking gear of the transmission, and wherein the operational condition corresponds with at least one of a neutral gear and a drive gear of the transmission. 4. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to provide the signal to switch the braking subsystem from the operational condition to the locked condition, wherein the locked condition corresponds to an engaged configuration whereby the braking subsystem is configured to limit movement of the vehicle, and wherein the operational condition corresponds to a disengaged configuration whereby the braking subsystem is configured to not limit movement of the vehicle. 5. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to provide a second signal to switch the at least one of the transmission and the braking subsystem from the locked condition to the operational condition in response to receiving and authenticating a user unlock request, and wherein the user unlock request includes at least one of an access code, a username and a password, a fingerprint scan, a facial scan, and a retinal scan. 6. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to facilitate operation of at least one of an engine, a pump, a water system, a foam system, a siren, and a lighting system while the at least one of the transmission and the braking subsystem are in the locked condition. 7. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to switch the at least one of the transmission and the braking subsystem from the operational condition to the locked condition in response to (i) the vehicle arriving at the destination and (ii) receiving a user lock request from at least one of a display device, a button, a switch, a parking brake, and a wireless control interface associated with the vehicle. 8. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to switch the at least one of the transmission and the braking subsystem from the operational condition to the locked condition in response to (i) the vehicle arriving at the destination and (ii) a driver door of the vehicle being opened. 9. The vehicle management system of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle is a first vehicle, further comprising a transceiver configured to receive an incoming signal from a first external device, wherein the first external device is a second vehicle or a first mobile user device, wherein the processing circuit is configured to (i) determine if a retransmission of the incoming signal is necessary for information contained in the incoming signal to reach a second external device and (ii) retransmit the incoming signal to the second external device with the transceiver in response to determining that the retransmission of the incoming signal is necessary, and wherein the second external device is a third vehicle or a second mobile user device. 10. A vehicle management system for a vehicle, the vehicle management system comprising: a processing circuit configured to: acquire location information relating to a location of the vehicle; determine if the vehicle has arrived at a destination based on the location information; provide a first signal to switch at least one of a transmission of the vehicle and a braking subsystem of the vehicle from an operational condition to a locked condition in response to (i) the vehicle arriving at the destination and (ii) a driver door of the vehicle being opened; receive a user unlock request; authenticate the user unlock request; and provide a second signal to switch the at least one of the transmission and the braking subsystem from the locked condition to the operational condition in response to authenticating the user unlock request. 11. The vehicle management system of claim 10 , wherein the user unlock request includes at least one of (i) an access code and (ii) a username and a password. 12. The vehicle management system of claim 10 , wherein the user unlock request includes a user biometric including at least one of a fingerprint scan, a facial scan, and a retinal scan.
