What is claimed is: 1. An air filter cartridge comprising: (a) first and second, opposite, end caps; (i) the first end cap having an air flow exit aperture therethrough; and (ii) the second end cap being closed; (b) pleated filter media extending between the first end cap and the second end cap, and surrounding and defining an open filter interior; (c) a first member of a non-continuously threaded rotational engagement mechanism positioned on an outer surface of the first end cap; (i) the first member of the non-continuously threaded rotational engagement mechanism comprising a plurality of radially extending projections located circumferentially around the outer surface of the first end cap; (ii) the plurality of radially extending projections being spaced from each other; (iii) the plurality of radially extending projections each comprising a tip and a stop, and including a cam surface located between the tip and the stop; and (iv) wherein the plurality of radially extending projections are constructed to engage housing projections on an inner surface of an air cleaner housing so that, as the air filter cartridge is rotated about an axis extending from the first end cap to the second end cap and through the open filter interior, the housing projections move along the plurality of radially extending projections along the cam surface; and (d) the second end cap having an outer, axial, central surface with a non-circularly shaped central recess therein. 2. An air filter cartridge according to claim 1 wherein: (a) the first end cap comprises a radially extending flange that forms a gap between the radially extending flange and the plurality of radially extending projections. 3. An air filter cartridge according to claim 2 further comprising: (a) the radially extending flange extends completely and circumferentially around the outer surface of the first end cap. 4. An air filter cartridge according to claim 1 wherein: (a) the plurality of radially extending projections are provided at an angular spacing of at least 20 degrees. 5. An air filter cartridge according to claim 1 further comprising: (a) the plurality of radially extending projections are provided at an angular spacing of 35 degrees to 70 degrees. 6. An air filter cartridge according to claim 1 wherein: (a) the non-circularly shaped central recess is plus shaped. 7. An air filter cartridge according to claim 1 further comprising: (a) a seal member on the first end cap at a location circumscribing the air flow exit aperture. 8. An air filter cartridge according to claim 7 wherein: (a) the seal member comprises an axial seal member. 9. An air filter cartridge according to claim 7 wherein: (a) the seal member is oriented to form an outwardly directed radial seal with a portion of an air cleaner assembly. 10. An air filter cartridge according to claim 1 further comprising: (a) a framework extending from the first end cap to the second end cap. 11. An air filter cartridge according to claim 10 wherein: (a) the framework is integral with the first end cap and the second end cap. 12. An air filter cartridge according to claim 10 wherein: (a) the framework extends outside of the filter media. 13. An air filter cartridge according to claim 1 wherein: (a) the pleated filter media defines a conical shape in extension between the first end cap and the second end cap with a larger diameter adjacent the first end cap. 14. An air filter cartridge according to claim 7 wherein: (a) the seal member is molded onto the first end cap. 15. An air filter cartridge comprising: (a) first and second, opposite, end caps; (i) the first end cap having an air flow exit aperture therethrough; and (ii) the second end cap being closed; (b) filter media extending between the first end cap and the second end cap, and surrounding and defining an open filter interior; (c) a first member of a non-continuously threaded rotational engagement mechanism positioned on an outer surface of the first end cap; (i) the first member of the non-continuously threaded rotational engagement mechanism comprising a plurality of radially extending projections located circumferentially around the outer surface of the first end cap; (ii) the plurality of radially extending projections being spaced from each other; (iii) the plurality of radially extending projections comprising a tip and a stop, and including a cam surface located between the tip and the stop; and (iv) wherein the plurality of radially extending projections are constructed to engage housing projections on an inner surface of an air cleaner housing so that, as the air filter cartridge is rotated about an axis extending from the first end cap to the second end cap and through the open filter interior, the projections move along the cam surface; (e) a seal member on the first end cap at a location circumscribing the air flow exit aperture; and (f) the second end cap having an outer, axial, central recessed surface, and a non-circularly shaped central recess in the outer, axial central recessed surface. 16. An air filter cartridge according to claim 15 wherein: (a) both the outer, axial, central recessed surface and the non-circularly shaped central recess are recessed toward the first end cap. 17. An air filter cartridge according to claim 15 wherein: (a) the non-circularly shaped central recess is plus shaped. 18. An air filter cartridge according to claim 15 wherein: (a) the first end cap comprises a radially extending flange that forms a gap between the radially extending flange and the plurality of radially extending projections. 19. An air filter cartridge according to claim 18 further comprising: (a) the radially extending flange extends completely and circumferentially around the outer surface of the first end cap. 20. An air filter cartridge according to claim 15 wherein: (a) the plurality of radially extending projections are provided at an angular spacing of at least 20 degrees. 21. An air filter cartridge according to claim 15 further comprising: (a) the plurality of radially extending projections are provided at an angular spacing of 35 degrees to 70 degrees. 22. An air filter cartridge according to claim 15 further comprising: (a) the seal member comprises an axial seal member. 23.
