Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Embodiments include a system comprising a gateway that includes a processor coupled to sensors and/or network devices installed at a premises. The system includes a remote server coupled to the gateway and located remote to the premises. The gateway and/or the remote server includes data of the sensors and/or network devices. The system includes an application running on at least one of the gateway and the remote server. The application controls events corresponding to the data and/or the premises in response to content of the data. The system includes a client interface coupled to the gateway and/or the remote server. The client interface presents the data to client devices.

The invention claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a gateway device located at a premises; and a server device located external to the premises and configured to: receive, from the gateway device, an indication of content captured by at least one premises device located at the premises; receive data indicative of user input specifying at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event; determine, based on the data indicative of the user input, a portion of the captured content indicative of the at least one characteristic; store searchable data associating the at least one characteristic with the portion of the captured content; and send, to a computing device associated with a user and based on a search request for content indicative of the event, data for outputting via a user interface the determined portion of the captured content. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the premises device comprises one or more of a media device, a media capture device, an imaging device, an audio device, a camera, or a microphone. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one characteristic associated with the user-defined event comprises at least one characteristic identified by the user in previously captured content. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a tagged object, an identified person, an amount of identified objects, or a type of identified object. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a date, data representing the event, a participant name associated with the event, a participant address associated with the event, an event address, an event start time, an event end time, a duration of the event, an event note, or a keyword associated with the event. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the gateway device is configured to communicate with a premises system located at the premises and comprising the premises device. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server device is further configured to determine an interest level in the portion of the captured content based on one or more of premises security data, object data, recognition data, event data, or calendar data. 8. A method comprising: receiving, by a server device located external to a premises and from a gateway device located at the premises, an indication of content captured by at least one premises device located at the premises; receiving data indicative of user input specifying at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event; determining, based on the data indicative of the user input, a portion of the captured content indicative of the at least one characteristic; storing searchable data associating the at least one characteristic with the portion of the captured content; and sending, to a computing device associated with a user and based on a search request for content indicative of the event, data for outputting via a user interface the determined portion of the captured content. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the premises device comprises one or more of a media device, a media capture device, an imaging device, an audio device, a camera, or a microphone. 10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one characteristic associated with the user-defined event comprises at least one characteristic identified by the user in previously captured content. 11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a tagged object, an identified person, an amount of identified objects, or a type of identified object. 12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a date, data representing the event, a participant name associated with the event, a participant address associated with the event, an event address, an event start time, an event end time, a duration of the event, an event note, or a keyword associated with the event. 13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the gateway device is configured to communicate with a premises system located at the premises and comprising the premises device. 14. The method of claim 8 , further comprising determining an interest level in the portion of the captured content based on one or more of premises security data, object data, recognition data, event data, or calendar data. 15. A device comprising: one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to: receive, external to a premises and from a gateway device located at the premises, an indication of content captured by at least one premises device located at the premises; receive data indicative of user input specifying at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event; determine, based on the data indicative of the user input, a portion of the captured content indicative of the at least one characteristic; store searchable data associating the at least one characteristic with the portion of the captured content; and send, to a computing device associated with a user and based on a search request for content indicative of the event, data for outputting via a user interface the determined portion of the captured content. 16. The device of claim 15 , wherein the premises device comprises one or more of a media device, a media capture device, an imaging device, an audio device, a camera, or a microphone. 17. The device of claim 15 , wherein the at least one characteristic associated with the user-defined event comprises at least one characteristic identified by the user in previously captured content. 18. The device of claim 15 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a tagged object, an identified person, an amount of identified objects, or a type of identified object. 19. The device of claim 15 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a date, data representing the event, a participant name associated with the event, a participant address associated with the event, an event address, an event start time, an event end time, a duration of the event, an event note, or a keyword associated with the event. 20. The device of claim 15 , wherein the gateway device is configured to communicate with a premises system located at the premises and comprising the premises device. 21. The device of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the device to determine an interest level in the portion of the captured content based on one or more of premises security data, object data, recognition data, event data, or calendar data. 22. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause: receiving, by a server device located external to a premises and from a gateway device located at the premises, an indication of content captured by at least one premises device located at the premises; receiving data indicative of user input specifying at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event; determining, based on the data indicative of the user input, a portion of the captured content indicative of the at least one characteristic; storing searchable data associating the at least one characteristic with the portion of the capture
