The present invention relates to methods and compositions for monitoring, diagnosis, prognosis, and determination of treatment regimens in subjects suffering from or suspected of having a renal injury. In particular, the invention relates to using a plurality of assays, one or more of which is configured to detect a kidney injury marker selected from the group consisting of Hyaluronic acid, Immunoglobulin A, Immunoglobulin G1, Immunoglobulin G2, Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7, Alpha-1 antitrypsin, Serum amyloid P component, Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2, Hepatocyte growth factor, Intercellular adhesion molecule 1, Beta-2-glycoprotein 1, Interleukin-1 beta, Neutrophil Elastase, Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 11B, Interleukin-11, Cathepsin D, C—C motif chemokine 24, C—X—C motif chemokine 6, C—C motif chemokine 13, C—X—C motif chemokines-1, -2, and -3, Matrilysin, Interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain, Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3, and Macrophage colony-stimulating factor 1 as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in renal injuries.

We claim: 1. An assay system comprising: (a) an immunoassay test device, the test device comprising: a first antibody which specifically binds human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7), and a second antibody which specifically binds human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 (TIMP2), wherein the test device is configured for detecting a plurality of biomarkers by contacting a body fluid sample with the first and second antibodies to generate signals from a binding of analyte to the first and second antibodies, the signals being indicative of levels of the plurality of biomarkers in the sample, wherein the plurality of biomarkers consists of human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 and human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2; and (b) an analyzer device configured to detect the signals and programmed to relate the detected signals to a single result combining the levels of the plurality of biomarkers. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first antibody and the second antibody are bound to a solid support. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the first antibody and the second antibody are bound to specific test zones on the solid support. 4. The system of claim 2 , further comprising a third antibody which specifically binds human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 and forms a sandwich complex with the first antibody and human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7, and a fourth antibody which specifically binds human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 and forms a sandwich complex with the second antibody and human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2. 5. The system of claim 3 , further comprising a third antibody which specifically binds human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 and forms a sandwich complex with the first antibody and human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7, and a fourth antibody which specifically binds human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 and forms a sandwich complex with the second antibody and human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2. 6. The system of claim 4 , wherein the third antibody and the fourth antibody are each bound to a detectable label. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the detectable label is a fluorescent label. 8. The system of claim 5 , wherein the third antibody and the fourth antibody are each bound to a detectable label. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the detectable label is a fluorescent label. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first antibody and the second antibody are each monoclonal antibodies. 11. The system of claim 4 , wherein the first antibody, second antibody, third antibody, and fourth antibody are each monoclonal antibodies. 12. The system of claim 5 , wherein the first antibody, second antibody, third antibody, and fourth antibody are each monoclonal antibodies. 13. The system of claim 6 , wherein the detectable label is an electrochemical label, an electrochemically luminescent label, a metal chelate, a colloidal metal particle, or an enzyme configured to produce a detectable reaction product. 14. The system of claim 2 , wherein the solid support comprises cellulose-based paper, latex, glass, silicon, or a hydrogel.
