Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Embodiments include a system comprising a gateway that includes a processor coupled to sensors and/or network devices installed at a premises. The system includes a remote server coupled to the gateway and located remote to the premises. The gateway and/or the remote server includes data of the sensors and/or network devices. The system includes an application running on at least one of the gateway and the remote server. The application controls events corresponding to the data and/or the premises in response to content of the data. The system includes a client interface coupled to the gateway and/or the remote server. The client interface presents the data to client devices.

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: at least one camera device located at a premises and configured to capture media content; and a gateway device located at the premises and configured to: receive an indication of media content captured by the at least one camera device, determine, based on data indicative of user input specifying at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event, a portion of the captured media content associated with the at least one characteristic cause storage of the determined portion of the captured media content; and cause output, to a computing device associated with a user and based on the storage and a request for content indicative of the event, the determined portion of the captured media content. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises an identifier of the event. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises one or more of a date, data representing the event, a participant name, a participant address, an event address, an event start time, an event end time, a duration of the event, an event note, or a keyword associated with the event. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the gateway device is configured to determine an interest level in the portion of the captured media content based on one or more of premises security data, object data, recognition data, event data, or calendar data. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic further comprises a specified quantity, and wherein the determined portion of the captured media content comprises a quantity of persons equal to or greater than the specified quantity. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic indicates a pattern of identified objects and unidentified objects. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the gateway device or an additional computing device external to the premises is configured to generate a rule based at least on a state change of one or more of the at least one camera device, wherein the portion of the captured media content is determined based on the rule. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises data indicating a calendar event. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system further comprises one or more of a sensor or an automation device, wherein the gateway device is configured to determine the portion of the captured media content associated with the at least one characteristic by determining, based on premises data associated with the one or more of the sensor or the automation device, the portion of the captured media content. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the captured media content comprises one or more of video data or image data. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the gateway device is configured to cause storage of an association of the event with the determined portion of the media content. 12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the gateway device is configured to cause storage of the determined portion of the captured media content by causing the determined portion to be associated with searchable data indicative of the at least one characteristic, and wherein the request for content indicative of the event comprises a search request for content indicative of the event. 13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises at least one characteristic identified in a prior portion of the captured media content associated with a time period prior to a time period of the determined portion of the captured media content. 14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the at least one characteristic comprises a tagged object in the captured media content. 15. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises one or more identifiers of at least one person. 16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the at least one person comprises one or more identified persons, and wherein the determined portion of the captured media content comprises content showing a person other than the one or more identified persons. 17. A method comprising: receiving, by a gateway device, an indication of content captured by at least one camera device configured to capture media content, wherein the gateway device and the at least one camera device are located at a premises; determining, based on data indicative of user input specifying at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event, a portion of the captured media content associated with the at least one characteristic; causing storage of the determined portion of the captured media content; and causing output, to a computing device associated with a user and based on the storage and a request for content indicative of the event, of the determined portion of the captured media content. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises identifiers of one or more persons. 19. The method of claim 17 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises a specified quantity, and wherein the determined portion of the captured media content comprises a quantity of persons equal to or greater than the specified quantity. 20. A device comprising: one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to: receive an indication of media content captured by at least one camera device located at a premises; determine, based on data indicative of user input specifying at least one characteristic associated with a user-defined event, a portion of the captured media content associated with the at least one characteristic cause storage of the determined portion of the captured media content; and cause output, to a computing device associated with a user and based on the storage and a request for content indicative of the event, of the determined portion of the captured media content. 21. The device of claim 20 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises identifiers of one or more persons. 22. The device of claim 20 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises a specified quantity, and wherein the determined portion of the captured media content comprises a quantity of persons equal to or greater than the specified quantity. 23. The device of claim 20 , wherein the data indicative of user input specifying the at least one characteristic comprises one or more identifiers of one or more persons, and wherein the determined portion of the captured media content comprises an identifier of a person other than the one or more identifiers of one or more persons.
