Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A merchandise display system may include a low voltage power assembly may comprise a track that includes one or more conductive rods and one or more mechanical connections, wherein the track is powered from a power source; and a power connector assembly that connects to the track, wherein the one or more conductive rods connect to the power assembly providing a power connection, and further wherein the one or more mechanical connections connect to the power assembly providing a mechanical connection. The power connector assembly may be configured to provide low voltage power through the track to a low voltage power device. The power assembly may include a configuration of mechanical connections and conductive material arranged in such a way as to provide power and/or signal distribution to a mating device, such as to a set of LED modules, other lighting sources, or powered track devices for use with a merchandise display system.

We claim: 1. A merchandise display system comprising: a track that is powered from a low voltage power source, wherein the track includes a first end and a second end opposite the first end and also includes one of more conductive rods; and a tray assembly configured for displaying products and to provide low voltage power through the track to a low voltage power device, the tray assembly including: a pan with arms, a tray that fits in the pan, wherein the tray includes a front portion, a rear portion, and two sides, a power connector assembly that connects to the track through a mechanical connection and a power connection, wherein the power connector assembly includes a power contact assembly that includes a contact, a power jack, and a wire harness that extends between the contact and the power jack; and wherein the power jack is located near the front portion of the tray and is connected to the low voltage power device; and wherein the track includes a housing that cooperates together with the power connector assembly to provide the mechanical connection. 2. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the track is aligned extends vertically along the merchandise display system. 3. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the wire harness of the power contact assembly extends from the rear portion of the tray to the front portion of the tray. 4. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the mechanical connection is a snap-fit connection. 5. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the low voltage power device is an LED lighting system configured to illuminate a portion of the merchandise display system, wherein the LED lighting system includes a printed circuit board assembly that connects to the power jack. 6. The merchandise display system of claim 5 , wherein the tray assembly further comprises a flip front portion, wherein the flip front portion includes a clear lens such that light from the LED lighting system may be illuminated through the flip front portion. 7. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the tray assembly further comprises a flip front portion, wherein the flip front portion allows for labelling of the products. 8. A merchandise display system comprising: a track that includes one or more conductive rods adjacent to one another, wherein the track extends vertically along the merchandise display system and wherein the track is powered from a low voltage power source and is configured to connect to the merchandise display system; and a tray assembly configured to display products and to provide low voltage power through the track to a low voltage power device, wherein the tray assembly connects to the track through a mechanical connection, the tray assembly including: a power connector assembly that connects to the track both through a mechanical connection and a power connection, wherein the power connector assembly has one or more power contact assemblies, wherein each of the one or more power contact assemblies includes a contact, a power jack, and a wire harness that extends between the contact and the power jack, wherein the track includes a housing that cooperates together with the power connector assembly to provide the mechanical connection, and wherein the low voltage power device is an LED lighting assembly with a printed circuit board assembly located near a front portion of the tray assembly. 9. The merchandise display system of claim 8 , wherein the mechanical connection allows for the power connector assembly to be moved along an entire length of the track. 10. The merchandise display system of claim 8 , wherein the contact of the one or more power contact assemblies connect to the one or more conductive rods on the track providing the power connection. 11. The merchandise display system of claim 8 , wherein the mechanical connection is a snap-fit connection. 12. The merchandise display system of claim 8 , wherein each wire harness of the one or more power contact assemblies extends from a rear portion of the tray assembly to the front portion of the tray assembly. 13. A merchandise display system comprising: a track that includes a housing and one or more conductive rods, wherein the track extends vertically along the merchandise display system and is powered from a low voltage power source; a tray assembly configured to display products and provide low voltage power through the track to a low voltage power device, wherein the tray assembly includes: a pan with arms; a tray that fits in the pan, wherein the tray includes a front portion, a rear portion, a power connector assembly that that connects to the track both through a mechanical connection and a power connection, wherein the power connector assembly includes: a first contact assembly having a first contact, a first power jack, and a first wire harness extending between the first contact and the first power jack; and a second contact assembly having a second contact, a second power jack, and a second wire harness extending between the first contact and the first power jack; wherein the first wire harness and the first power jack are on a first side of the tray and the second wire harness and the second power jack are on a second side of the tray opposite the first side; wherein the first power jack connects to the low voltage power device; and wherein the housing of the track cooperates together with the power connector assembly to provide the mechanical connection. 14. The merchandise display system of claim 13 , wherein the first wire harness and the second wire harness both extend from the rear portion of the tray assembly to the front portion of the tray assembly. 15. The merchandise display system of claim 13 , wherein the low voltage power device is an LED lighting assembly with a printed circuit board assembly located near the front portion of the tray assembly. 16. The merchandise display system of claim 15 , wherein the printed circuit board assembly includes a first clip that connects to the first power jack and a second clip that connects to the second power jack.
