The present invention relates to new immunogenic compositions comprising conjughated Streptococcus pneumoniae capsular saccharide antigens (glycoconjugates) and uses thereof. Immunogenic compositions of the present invention will typically comprise at least one glycoconjugate from a S. pneumoniae serotype not found in PREVNAR®, SYNFLORIX® and/or PREVNAR 13®. The invention also relates to vaccination of human subjects, in particular infants and elderly, against pneumococcal infections using said novel immunogenic compositions.

The invention claimed is: 1. A multivalent immunogenic composition comprising polysaccharide-protein conjugates and a physiologically acceptable vehicle, wherein each of the conjugates comprises a capsular polysaccharide from a different serotype of Streptococcus pneumoniae conjugated to a carrier protein, wherein the polysaccharide-protein conjugates consist of serotypes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 8, 9V, 10A, 11A, 12F, 14, 15B, 18C, 19A, 19F, 22F, 23F and 33F, wherein the carrier protein is CRM 197 , and wherein said serotype 15B capsular polysaccharide-protein conjugate comprises: (a) at least 0.1 mM acetate per mM serotype 15B capsular polysaccharide, and (b) less than 50% of free serotype 15B capsular polysaccharide compared to the total amount of serotype 15B capsular polysaccharide. 2. A multivalent immunogenic composition according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one adjuvant. 3. A multivalent immunogenic composition according to claim 2 , wherein said at least one adjuvant is selected from the group consisting of a CpG oligonucleotide, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, and aluminum sulfate, or a combination thereof. 4. A multivalent immunogenic composition according to claim 1 , further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient, carrier or diluent.
