Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An apparatus comprising an interface, a memory and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive sensor data samples during operation of a vehicle. The memory may be configured to store the sensor data samples over a number of points in time. The processor may be configured to analyze the sensor data samples stored in the memory to detect a pattern. The processor may be configured to manage an application of brakes of the vehicle in response to the pattern.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method of vehicle operation, comprising: determining a segment of a vehicle route; determining information about an external environment of a vehicle, information about operational status of the vehicle, and information from external command input telemetry in combination with user command inputs to the vehicle including voice command inputs provided to the vehicle by a device having GPS functionality; and applying calculated power to the vehicle to travel along the segment of the vehicle route at a calculated speed. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of selecting a final destination by a driver. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of selecting a destination using historical data associated with a driver. 4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of selecting a destination using statistical destination logic. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of selecting a destination by a passenger. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle route segment determination further comprises determining multiple route segments, each route segment having a separate calculated speed and selected drive train parameters. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of determining information about the external environment of the vehicle further comprises the step of communicating with a remote database. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of determining information about operational status of the vehicle further comprises the step of communicating with a remote database. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user command inputs include additional voice command inputs provided to the vehicle by a source other than the device having GPS functionality. 10. An apparatus comprising: a vehicle having a power source, a communication system, and a user interface system capable of accepting voice command inputs; and a power management system for the power source able to determine information about an external environment of the vehicle, information about operational status of the vehicle, information from external command input telemetry combinable with user command inputs to the vehicle including voice command inputs provided to the user interface system by a device having GPS functionality, and one or more operational parameters of the vehicle, with the power management system configured to calculate power and speed over a segment of a vehicle route and act to apply calculated power to the vehicle to travel along the segment of the vehicle route at the calculated speed. 11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the vehicle route is set based on a final destination selected by a driver via the user interface system. 12. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the vehicle route is set based on a destination determined at least in part using historical data associated with a driver. 13. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the vehicle route is set based on a destination determined at least in part using statistical destination logic. 14. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the vehicle route is set based on a destination determined at least in part by a passenger. 15. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the power management system is configured to determine multiple route segments, each route segment having a separate calculated speed. 16. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein determining information about the external environment of the vehicle further comprises communicating with a remote database. 17. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein determining information about operational status of the vehicle further comprises communicating with a remote database. 18. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the calculated speed is based at least in part on a determined probable optimal speed using historical route information. 19. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the power management system is configured to determine a range of target speeds, the range including the calculated speed, and to apply power to the vehicle to travel along the segment of the vehicle route within the range of target speeds.
