A protective apparel support system is disclosed comprising a support frame configured to rest on the shoulders of a wearer, the support having a first shoulder member, a second shoulder member and a shield engagement portion. A shield is selectively coupleable to the support and protective apparel is coupled to the shield.

What is claimed is: 1. A protective apparel and support apparatus, comprising: a barrier portion comprising a vision shield; a yoke configured to rest on the shoulders of a wearer, the yoke comprising: a chest member, the chest member comprising a first chest member having a forward end and a rearward end, and a second chest member having a forward end and a rearward end, wherein: the chest member at least partially secures the vision shield, the first chest member is configured to rest at least partially on a first shoulder of a wearer and the second chest member is configured to rest at least partially on a second shoulder of a wearer, and the first chest member forward end is spaced apart from the second chest member forward end, a first back member extending from the rearward end of the first chest member and a second back member extending from the rearward end of the second chest member, and wherein the first chest member is only connected with the second chest member by the vision shield. 2. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a gap formed between the first chest member forward end and the second chest member forward end. 3. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 2 wherein the barrier portion extends from the first chest member to the second chest member. 4. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 3 wherein the barrier portion vision shield extends from the first chest member to the second chest member. 5. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 4 wherein the barrier portion vision shield extends into the gap formed between the first chest member forward end and the second chest member forward end. 6. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 4 wherein the barrier portion vision shield extends across the gap formed between the first chest member forward end and the second chest member forward end. 7. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 1 wherein the first chest member comprises an air inlet port. 8. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 1 wherein the second chest member comprises an air outlet port. 9. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 1 wherein the yoke comprises a fan. 10. A protective apparel and support apparatus, comprising: a barrier portion comprising a vision shield; and a yoke configured to rest on the shoulders of a wearer, the yoke comprising: a first chest member having a forward end and a rearward end, a second chest member having a forward end and a rearward end, a rearward yoke portion, and a gap between the first chest member forward end and the second chest member forward end, wherein the barrier portion extends between the first chest member and the second chest member; wherein the barrier portion extends across the gap and couples directly to the first chest member forward end and the second chest member forward end. 11. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 10 wherein the first chest member forward end is spaced apart from the second chest member forward end. 12. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 10 wherein the barrier portion vision shield extends from the first chest member to the second chest member. 13. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 10 wherein the rearward yoke portion comprises a first back member and a second back member. 14. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 10 further comprising a hood. 15. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 14 further comprising a gown separate from the hood. 16. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 10 wherein the yoke first chest member comprises a shield receiving element that receives the vision shield. 17. The protective apparel and support apparatus of claim 13 wherein the yoke first chest member is connected with the first back member via a hinge and the second chest member is connected with the second back member via a hinge.
