Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An accessory rod assembly for positioning cables and cable management accessories in a cable manager includes a base member, an accessory rod, and a rotatable knob. The base member has a front, a rear, and two sides, the front including a forward-facing socket, the rear including a first hook protruding rearwardly therefrom, and one of the two sides including a threaded portion. The accessory rod has an extruded construction and a generally uniform, at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape along its length. The at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape is defined by two opposed arcuate portions interconnected by a midsection portion. Adjacent edges of the two opposed arcuate portions define a drop-in T-slot channel that extends along the length of the accessory rod. The rotatable knob has a handle and a threaded end received within the threaded portion of the base member.

What is claimed is: 1. An accessory rod assembly for positioning cables and cable management accessories in a cable manager, the accessory rod assembly comprising: a base member having a front, a rear, and two sides, the front including a forward-facing socket, the rear including a first hook protruding rearwardly therefrom, and one of the two sides including a threaded portion; an accessory rod having an extruded construction and a generally uniform, at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape along its length, the at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape being defined by two opposed arcuate portions interconnected by a midsection portion, wherein adjacent edges of the two opposed arcuate portions define a drop-in T-slot channel that extends along the length of the accessory rod; and a rotatable knob having a handle and a threaded end received within the threaded portion of the base member; wherein a proximal end of the accessory rod is received within the forward-facing socket of the base member such that the accessory rod extends forwardly from the base member; and wherein the first hook is arrangeable to grasp a side of one or more ledges of a separate structure, and wherein the threaded end of the rotatable knob is arrangeable to bear on an opposite side of the one or more ledges of the separate structure, thereby facilitating the one or more ledges being clamped between the first hook and the rotatable knob and facilitating securement of the base member to the separate structure. 2. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , further comprising an end cap fitted to a distal end of the accessory rod. 3. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , wherein the threaded portion has a tapered exterior surface to provide curvature to the base member adjacent to the rotatable knob. 4. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , wherein the base member includes a shroud surrounding the threaded portion to protect against cables interfering with the rotatable knob. 5. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape defines a pair of drop-in T-slot channels, each extending along the length of the accessory rod. 6. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape defines at least one fastener screw-in channel that extends along the length of the accessory rod. 7. The accessory rod assembly of claim 6 , wherein the at least one fastener screw-in channel is an extension of the drop-in T-slot channel. 8. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , wherein a second hook is arranged in a fastener screw-in channel at the proximal end of the accessory rod, the second hook being arrangeable to grasp the same side of the one or more ledges of the separate structure as the first hook. 9. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , wherein the separate structure is an extruded structure, and wherein the base member is slidably maneuverable along a length of the extruded structure. 10. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a half-spool accessory snap-fitted around one of the two opposed arcuate portions of the accessory rod. 11. The accessory rod assembly of claim 10 , wherein the half-spool accessory is slidably maneuverable along at least a portion of the length of the accessory rod. 12. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a cable strap/buckle accessory having a buckle that is rotatably paired with a buckle support, the buckle support including a mounting boss received within the drop-in T-slot channel of the accessory rod. 13. The accessory rod assembly of claim 12 , wherein the cable strap/buckle accessory is slidably maneuverable along at least a portion of the length of the accessory rod. 14. The accessory rod assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape defines a plurality of groove-shaped grip channels arranged in at least one of the two opposed arcuate portions of the accessory rod. 15. The accessory rod assembly of claim 14 , further comprising a cable finger accessory secured to the accessory rod, the cable finger accessory including a pair of arcuate clamp sections and a cable finger extending outwardly from one of the pair of arcuate clamp sections. 16. The accessory rod assembly of claim 15 , wherein: proximate ends of the pair of arcuate clamp sections are hingedly connected together; free ends of the pair of arcuate clamp sections are secured together via a latch mechanism; and each of the pair of arcuate clamp sections is aligned with a respective one of the arcuate portions of the accessory rod such that the pair of arcuate clamp sections, when latched together, encircle the at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape of the accessory rod. 17. The accessory rod assembly of claim 16 , wherein at least one of the pair of arcuate clamp sections includes a plurality of locating ribs on an inward-facing surface thereof, each locating rib being received within a respective one of the plurality of groove-shaped grip channels of the accessory rod, thereby snapping the cable finger accessory into a fixed orientation relative to the accessory rod. 18. The accessory rod assembly of claim 16 , wherein the cable finger accessory is slidably maneuverable along at least a portion of the length of the accessory rod. 19. An accessory rod assembly for positioning cables and cable management accessories in a cable manager, the accessory rod assembly comprising: a base member including a forward-facing socket and a threaded portion at a side thereof, the base member further including a protrusion at a rear thereof for engagement against a separate structure; an accessory rod having an extruded construction and a generally uniform, at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape along its length, the at least partially cylindrical cross-sectional shape being defined by two opposed arcuate portions interconnected by a midsection portion, wherein adjacent edges of the two opposed arcuate portions define a drop-in T-slot channel that extends along the length of the accessory rod; and a rotatable knob having a handle and a threaded end received within the threaded portion of the base member; wherein a proximal end of the accessory rod is received within the forward-facing socket of the base member such that the accessory rod extends forwardly from the base member; and wherein the threaded end of the rotatable knob is arrangeable to bear on a surface of the separate structure to facilitate clamping securement of the base member to the separate structure. 20. The accessory rod assembly of claim 19 , further comprising an end cap fitted to a distal end of the accessory rod.
