Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present invention aims to provide a method for producing a modified molded article that has favorable appearance, high breaking strength, and excellent abrasion resistance, as well as excellently low permeability to nitrogen gas and hydrochloric acid. The method for producing a modified molded article of the present invention includes molding a fluororesin to provide a molded article and irradiating the molded article with radiation at an irradiation dose of lower than 100 kGy at 50° C. to 200° C. to provide a modified molded article.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A molded article comprising a melt-fabricable fluororesin excluding polytetrafluoroethylene and polychlorotrifluoroethylene, containing no inorganic substance or no polytetrafluoroethylene, having a specific gravity of 2.170 or higher, and having a breaking strength of 13 MPa or higher, wherein the melt-fabricable fluororesin is at least one copolymer selected from the group consisting of a tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer (PFA) and a tetrafluoroethylene (TFE)/hexafluoropropylene (HFP) copolymer (FEP), wherein the PFA contains 3.1 to 10 mass % of a polymerized unit based on perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) (PAVE) relative to all the polymerized units, wherein the FEP has a mass ratio (TFE/HFP) between the TFE unit and the HFP unit of (85 to 95)/(5 to 15) (mass %), and wherein the melt-fabricable fluororesin contains a functional group which is at least one selected from the group consisting of —CF═CF 2 , —COF, —COOH, —CONH 2 , and —CH 2 OH.
