Disclosed herein are methods for treating hair related disorders, including compounds that may be specific or modulate PPAR receptors.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for modulating hair growth in a human subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the human subject a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising: N-acetyl-(S)-3-(4-aminophenyl)-2-methoxypropionic acid, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt; and an excipient. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is administered topically. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is pharmaceutically and/or cosmetically acceptable. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises a hair stimulating agent. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises administering a hair stimulating agent. 6. A method for treating hair de-pigmentation or vitiligo in a human subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the human subject a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising: N-acetyl-(S)-3-(4-aminophenyl)-2-methoxypropionic acid, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt; and an excipient. 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the composition is administered topically. 8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the composition is pharmaceutically and/or cosmetically acceptable. 9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the composition further comprises a hair stimulating agent. 10. The method of claim 6 , wherein the method further comprises administering a hair stimulating agent. 11. A method of stimulating hair growth in a human subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the human subject a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising: N-acetyl-(S)-3-(4-aminophenyl)-2-methoxypropionic acid, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt; and an excipient. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the composition is administered topically. 13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the composition is pharmaceutically and/or cosmetically acceptable. 14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the composition further comprises a hair stimulating agent. 15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the method further comprises administering a hair stimulating agent.
