Disclosed herein are methods for treating hair related disorders, including compounds that may be specific or modulate PPAR receptors.

The method of claim 25 , wherein the composition is administered topically. 27 . The method of claim 25 or 26 , wherein the composition further comprises a hair stimulating agent. 28 . The method of claim 25 or 26 , further comprising administering a hair stimulating agent. 29 . A method for treating or ameliorating limited or short hair growth, hair loss, or alopecia in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering an effective amount to the subject of a composition comprising N-acetyl-(S)-3-(4-aminophenyl)-2-methoxypropionic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or N-oxide thereof, and an excipient. 30 . The method of claim 29 , wherein alopecia is treated or ameliorated. 31 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the alopecia is selected from the group consisting of: anagen alopecia, telogen alopecia, or alopecia areata. 32 . The method of claim 29 , wherein the composition further comprises a hair stimulating agent. 33 . The method of claim 29 , further comprising administering a hair stimulating agent. 34 . A method for treating or ameliorating limited or short hair growth, hair loss, or alopecia in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering an effective amount to the subject of a composition comprising N-acetyl-(S)-3-(4-aminophenyl)-2-methoxypropionic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or N-oxide thereof, and an excipient, wherein the composition is pharmaceutically or cosmetically acceptable.
