The invention relates to the design of a food forming drum (2) which will be used for moulding food in shaped products. The application field wherein the drum will operate is the field of human consumption and pet food and reaches from meat products (poultry, pork, beef, etc), meat replacement products, fish, dairy to potatoes and vegetables products. Particularly, the present invention relates to a food forming drum comprising an inner member (24) with an inner cylinder (16) and a multitude of ribs (17) extending in radial direction from the inner cylinder and with at least one porous member, made from a porous material with interconnecting pores, connected to the ribs and wherein a multitude of rows with product cavities, each row comprising one or a multitude of product cavities, are provided in the porous member(s). The present invention further relates to a method to produce such drums.

The invention claimed is: 1. A food forming drum comprising: an inner member with an inner cylinder; a multitude of ribs extending in a radial direction from the inner cylinder; at least one porous member made from a porous material with interconnecting pores connected to the ribs; a multitude of rows of product cavities, each of the rows comprising one or a multitude of product cavities provided in the porous member; wherein the food forming drum comprises means to connect the porous member to the ribs, the means extends radially to an outer surface of the porous member; and wherein the means is a tension and/or connection means. 2. The food forming drum according to claim 1 , wherein the means comprises a strip. 3. The food forming drum according to claim 2 , wherein the strip extends over an entire length of the food forming drum. 4. The food forming drum according to claim 3 , wherein the strip has a cross section with at least one sloped sidewall. 5. The food forming drum according to claim 2 , wherein the strip and the rib are connected by a multitude of screws. 6. The food forming drum according to claim 2 , wherein one insert is connected to the ribs by means of two strips. 7. A method to produce a food forming drum comprising: an inner member with an inner cylinder; a multitude of ribs extending in a radial direction from the inner cylinder; at least one porous member made from a porous material with interconnecting pores connected to the ribs; a multitude of rows of product cavities, each of the rows comprising one or a multitude of product cavities provided in the porous member; wherein the food forming drum comprises means to connect the porous member to the ribs, the means extends radially to an outer surface of the porous member; and wherein the means is a tension and/or connection means; the method comprising: securing the porous member to the inner member by the means, and wherein the means are subsequently partially cut off. 8. The method according to claim 7 , wherein the method comprises machining and/or deep rolling of the porous member, which is carried out without use of cooling and/or lubrication liquids. 9. The method according to claim 7 , wherein an insert is placed between two ribs and secured to the inner member by a retaining strip and fastening means. 10. The method according to claim 7 , wherein the method comprises machining recesses into an insert after the insert has been positioned on the inner member. 11. The method according to claim 7 , wherein the method comprises: sintering the porous member, machining at least one recess into the porous material, providing a retaining strip into the recess and fastening the retaining strip to the ribs of the inner member of the food forming drum. 12. The method according to claim 7 , wherein porous inserts are each provided between two shoulders of two ribs and secured to the ribs by a retaining strip.
