What is claimed is: 1. A hair treatment composition comprising: 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol; and at least one carboxylic acid chosen from maleic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, citraconic acid, citric acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, and glyoxylic acid monohydrate, or combinations thereof. 2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid is chosen from citric acid, malonic acid, oxalic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, sebacic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, or combinations thereof. 3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid is chosen from maleic acid, citraconic acid, fumaric acid, benzoic acid, or combinations thereof. 4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid is chosen from oxalic acid, malic acid, or combinations thereof. 5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol is present in an amount up to about 15% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. 6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol is present in an amount up to about 3% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. 7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid is present in an amount up to about 30% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. 8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid is present in an amount up to about 5% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. 9. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising at least one additive chosen from surfactants, solvents, conditioning agents, or combinations thereof. 10. The composition of claim 9 , wherein the solvents are chosen from water, cosmetically acceptable organic solvents, or combinations thereof. 11. A hair treatment system comprising: (a) a hair treatment composition comprising: 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol; at least one carboxylic acid chosen from maleic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, citraconic acid, citric acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, or combinations thereof; and at least one solvent; and (b) a hair conditioning composition comprising: 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol; at least one carboxylic acid chosen from maleic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, citraconic acid, citric acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, or combinations thereof; and at least one additive. 12. The hair treatment system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid present in the hair treatment composition and/or the hair conditioning composition is independently chosen from citric acid, malonic acid, oxalic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, sebacic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, or combinations thereof. 13. The hair treatment system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid present in the hair treatment composition and/or the hair conditioning composition is independently chosen from maleic acid, citraconic acid, fumaric acid, benzoic acid, or combinations thereof. 14. The hair treatment system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one carboxylic acid present in the hair treatment composition and/or the hair conditioning composition is independently chosen from oxalic acid, malic acid, maleic acid, or combinations thereof. 15. The hair treatment system of claim 11 , further comprising at least one composition or agent for coloring or shaping the hair. 16. The hair treatment system of claim 15 , wherein the composition for coloring or shaping the hair comprises the hair treatment composition. 17. The hair treatment system of claim 11 , wherein the agent for coloring the hair is chosen from bleaching agents, colorant compounds, or combinations thereof, and/or the agent for shaping the hair is chosen from agents for straightening, relaxing, or permanent waving the hair. 18. The hair treatment system of claim 17 , wherein: the bleaching agents are chosen from peroxides, persulfates, perborates, percarbonates, peracids, bromates, their salts, or mixtures thereof; and the colorant compounds are chosen from oxidation dyes, direct dyes, pigments, or mixtures thereof. 19. A method of treating hair, the method comprising: applying to the hair a hair treatment composition comprising: 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol; at least one carboxylic acid chosen from maleic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, citraconic acid, citric acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, or combinations thereof; and at least one solvent. 20. The method of claim 19 , further comprising applying to the hair a hair conditioning composition, the hair conditioning composition comprising: 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol; at least one carboxylic acid chosen from maleic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, citraconic acid, citric acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, or combinations thereof; and at least one additive. 21.
