Official abstract text for this publication.
A device and a method for processing, in particular edge processing, an optical lens, wherein the device has a measuring system, a processing system, a loading system, an unloading system, an intermediate conveyor, and a belt conveyor. The loading system is arranged between the measuring system and the processing system. The unloading system is arranged on the opposite side of the processing system. A lens that is to be processed is picked up and oriented at the optical reference point that is determined by the measuring system in order to determine as precisely as possible the blocking point for the subsequent processing. The loading system and unloading system each have a linearly movable swiveling system with linearly movable suction devices arranged therein. The processing system is designed for the simultaneous processing of two lenses.

What is claimed is: 1. Method for edge processing an optical lens in a device, wherein the lens is both measured and processed in the device, the method comprising: delivering the lens from a lens conveyor to a measuring system in which the lens is measured; after measuring the lens, removing the lens from the measuring system with a loading system which is located on a first side of a processing system, delivering the lens from the loading system to an intermediate conveyor, the intermediate conveyor being operated independently of the loading system; feeding the lens to the processing system with the intermediate conveyor; edge processing the lens in the processing system; using an unloading system arranged on an opposite side of the processing system from the loading system for removal of a processed lens from the processing system and for delivery of the processed lens to the lens conveyor; and operating the unloading system independently of both the loading system and the intermediate conveyor. 2. Method according to claim 1 , wherein, multiple lenses are processed simultaneously in the processing system. 3. Method according to claim 1 , wherein a blocking point of the lens is determined and after the determination of the blocking point, the lens is oriented and delivered to the intermediate conveyor. 4. Method according to claim 1 , wherein the processing system has a rotatable mounting with multiple rotatable clamping shafts for simultaneous handling of multiple lenses, and wherein the intermediate conveyor delivers the lens to one of the clamping shafts.
