What is claimed is: 1. An expression vector comprising an isolated polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID No. 1208 and a nucleotide sequence heterologous to the polynucleotide, wherein the encoded polypeptide has alcohol dehydrogenase enzymatic activity. 2. The expression vector of claim 1 , wherein the expression vector comprises an isolated polynucleotide having at least 95% identity to SEQ ID No. 1209. 3. A method of modulating or altering metabolism in a cell, the method comprising: providing the expression vector of claim 2 to the cell and expressing the encoded polypeptide in the cell. 4. The method according to claim 3 , further comprising glycosylating, or otherwise post-translationally modifying the encoded peptide in the cell.
